Title: target scoring
Post by: Lefty SRH on September 04, 2011, 12:33:53 PM
How do you score the targets?   I imagine 3, 4, 5 equals respective points.....Whats does the circled "V" mean?

I have not shot an Appleseed event but ran into a guy at the range yesterday that was shooting the target.  He shot the Guntersville AL event a couple weeks ago.  I asked him about the target and he offered to run me thru the coarse of fire.  I feel like I shot rather well considering I've never shot this target before.  I'd like to get an accurate score and pass it to my host.
Thank you
Steve

Lefty,

Welcome to Appleseed.  The "V" confers no extra points, if the AQT was being used for competition purposes, a hit in the "V" ring would be used for tie breaking purposes, the same as an "X" ring in high power shoots.

Also welcome.

HAWKHAVN covered the scoring well so I don't have anything to add there.

Sorry to have missed you at Guntersville last week.  We had a great time and a very full line.  Perhaps you could come down to Columbiana, AL in a couple of weeks.  It is a nice facility at the Shelby County Sheriff's Training Center.  Air conditioned classroom that you don't often fine.  Great local instructor core!

Hopefully see you there.

Thank you for the response.  I thought thats what the circled "V" meant but wanted to make sure.  I imagine 1 taget is worth 300 possible points aswell?  If thats true then I feel like I did rather well....LOL

I'll have to see about making the Columbiana match.

Now how do I contact another forum member so I can pass my score to him.

Thanks

I'm not certain which target you are shooting; however, if it is "The Quick 'n Dirty AQT", then the maximum score is 250.  Follow the directions printed on the target, namely;

   a) Stage 1 -- 10 rounds, standing position, 2 minutes

   b) Stage 2 -- 10 rounds, transition standing to sitting, with mag change, 55 seconds

   c) Stage 3  -- 10 rounds, transition standing to prone, with mag change, 65 seconds

   d) Stage 4 -- 10 rounds, prone, 5 minutes

Add score as instructed.  A "rifleman score" is 210 or better.

There are other targets circulating out there and whatever you have, please use it and practice.  Work on the three positions, the steps of firing a shot, and natural point of aim.  Master these and we want you to help others; not quite there, come to an Appleseed and let us help you.  Besides at an Appleseed, you can also learn about our heritage.

As for contacting another member.  Send them a "Personal Message" using there their forum name.  (I'll send you one now).

Lefty SRH,
Near the top of the page you will see a "HOME" page tab. Just to the right of it a few spaces is a "Message" tab. Hover there to bring up a drop down to 'send a message'. Works just like an email, all you need is the other members screen name.
Welcome aboard,
sgtmace

You can click on the person's screen name over their avatar on the left side of the page and it will also take you to a screen where you see some info on that user name and one of the options from there is to PM them.
