Title: AAR Slippery Rock, PA- Aug 27/28, 2011
Post by: brickhouse on August 30, 2011, 10:52:33 PM
Another excellent shoot at the Slippery Rock Sportsman's Club is in the books!

First, I would like to thank our most excellent hosts. First class facilities, plus a delicious lunch! Shawn and John - Thank you! A big thank you as well to their families who shared their day with us and saw to our creature comforts.

A beautiful weekend for some marksmanship, American heritage, and fellowship. Saturday was a bit warm but easily bearable (mid 80's and BRIGHT!). Here we all bask under natures heat lamp. Mr Happy, how many fluid ounces per hour?

Donna had only middling success putting holes in paper at 25 meters with X-ray vision alone.

Ben-all business with his AK.

It's a working lunch and EZ3 presents a low key and wonderfully entertaining first strike.

"I swear that fish was this big!"

Donna and Jody- making memories. I can't find a picture of son, Trevor.
See, mother and son both have the same quirk- leg-tucked-up positioning thingy. We couldn't break either of them of it.

George delivers.

Mike showed us the meaning of persistence.

Mr Happy gave a spirited second strike.
"Yeah...well mine was THIS big!"

Before we knew it, it time to wrap up Sunday afternoon. Mr Happy presents William Diamond patches to Charlotte and Colleen. These two fine young Americans kept us safe from zombies all day. I have a feeling we might see them again next month.

The highlight of the weekend for me was Dan accepting the orange.
[(sigh) They grow up so fast. Before you know it, they are off running shoots of their own. (sniff)]
Once we get the paperwork complete; I'll tell you more about Dan.

Thank you again to ALL involved in the events at Slippery Rock!

My Daughters had a GREAT TIME!!!

A special thanks to the instructors.  John stepped up to help Brickhouse and Mr. Happy out on Sunday allowing Betsy to spend a lot of time with Charlotte.

If you are thinking of bringing your children PLEASE do so.  It is a friendly event that will encourage their love of the sport and COUNTRY.

Yes indeed, it's always a pleasure to visit Slippery Rock Sportsman's Club. Despite the threat of "Irene" we had wonderful weather, not too warm(that would be 32 oz per hour, gurgle-glug!) and no rain. An excellent willingness to learn was shared by all the shooters. Several came this close to a Rifleman's patch. The big challenges were trigger popping and the ever mysterious and elusive NPOA. Work those fundamentals Pilgrims!!
I would like to extend a special thanks to our young Zombie Hunters. :--- I kept one eye open all night on Saturday fretting about being et by zombies. They'll think twice 'for they nose 'round Slippery Rock agin! O0
...and it really was that big!

Yup. We had 14 on the line Sunday including two young Americans.  MrHappy and I asked for his help Sunday morning and John stepped up big time. On the spot, he put aside his Sunday plans and took up the hat for the day!

Thank you, Thank you!  Well done Sir!
