Title: Ambidextrous shooting jacket
Post by: Rafn on August 13, 2011, 01:08:44 PM
Anyone find a good source for ambidextrous shooting jackets?

I want to work on left handed shooting, and suspect it may work better for me than right handed (cross eye dominant but have always shot right handed).  As a result I'd rather only buy one jacket that I can use either way.  http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Browning-Pheasants-Forever-Zip-Sleeve-Jacket/productDetail/Jackets-and-Vests/prod9999003196/cat101314 looked like it might be a good start - if I added elbow pads.

Why not just turn your jacket inside out?

Simple and effective - might go that route if I decide which side will be primary.  I don't have a shooting jacket yet, and was seeing prices were about the same for the few ambidextrous ones as the others.  Not sure which side I'll be using more often, but switching to lefty has been suggested be several.

Looks like it would also need bicep pads added for your loop sling , myself I have found that to just as impotent as the elbow pads ( I like a tight loop sling ).

When it's inside out you have to wear it "backwards" so all the padding is on the opposite side. Works pretty well, actually. Try it out next time you're using yours.
