Are there any advantages that a wood stock has over a fiberglass stock?
Depends if you live in termite country. :)
Wood is more tradtional. I have a 44 springfield with a wood stock that tells a story of hard use that never be replaced.
Fiberglass is more weather tolerant and easy to paint if you want.
Just depends on your choice.
Wood is prettier if you take the time to make it that way.
Other than that....I can't think of another one.
My M1A had wood on it for close to 30 years, then I put a GI surplus synthetic stock on it, camoflaged it and never looked back.
Wood was once alive ,it gives your rifle a soul. Wood soaks up the sweat of all that have used your stock before you and those that shoot it after you. A wood stock will tell a story that a plastic stock just can't with its dings rebuild marks and stains. Seal up that stock with gunny s paste to keep the weather from affecting the stock. You just can't beat a wood stock for looks. IMHO

My m1a is in a syn stock it is stickly a work horse I have a mc Millain m3a stock it will live in someday
(after I buy a good scope and mount for it and can afford to have a good m-14 smith bed it in ) My m-1 Garand on the other hand has been around awhile and it shows on the wood stock it has soul to it ,,friend has asked why I don't just get a new stock for it "it would look really nice with a new stock" me I like the way it looks now it does not need a new wood stock ,,the old one is a part of its history I wonder what it would say about where its been if it could talk,,,,,,,
o yea btw with that old ugly wood stock it will shoot 1.7 moa with good surplus ammo as long as the nut behind the butt does there part :)
