Title: Marlin 795 buttstock extender
Post by: LawDog on August 02, 2011, 02:44:20 PM
Reading various posts prompted me to check the fit of my 795.  I discovered that I got a more consistent turkey neck and eye relief if I put a folded up rag between the butt and my shoulder.  Yes, I could just tape that on, but I suspect a recoil pad (or similar) would be more stable.  Anyone know what pad fits a 795?  Thanks.

Measure the butt, length & with. Also how thick is the rag, 1/2", 1"

Then go to Midway or Brownells. Lots of choices. Slipon or mounted, could go with spacers under existing butt plate (do they have butt plates?).

The reasearch will do you good, you will get to know whats out there.

I think all of the Limbsaver slip-ons add 1" plus are sticky rubber so the butt doesn't walk. But they are spendy, about $30. The small fits a normal 10-22 perfectly, not sure about a 795. If the butt is curved, I'd suggest cutting/sanding it flat at the same angle as the butt pad......O.L.

A Butler Creek small pad fits snugly.  Adds an inch.
