Well it was another amazing Appleseed out in Mariposa this past weekend. I have enjoyed every shoot we have done out there.
For this weekend we had 8 (5 women, 3 men) shooters on Saturday and 9 shooters on Sunday (4 women, 5 men), and it was comprised of 3 families. While it was the 2nd shoot for most of these individuals they still persisted through many trials and stayed very positive throughout the days. They continued pushing even though the were tired and sore.
Shooters were very engaged in the the history, and they commented that they got more from the story hearing it a 2nd time. During history we had a few additional listener as the husband of one of our shooters joined us with their young children (I love that Dad was taking care of the kids so that his wife could learn how to shoot).
Shooters continued to progress between both days and all saw improvement in their AQTs and Red Coats. Many learned about how their rifles can and will malfunction and why it is important to check your equipment, especially your sights ::).
On Sunday after shooting the final redcoats 4 shooters wanted another AQT, so we ran 1 more; its a good thing we did.... One of our shooters Cindy who had been hovering in the in the 200's finally put it all together and came out with a score of 211 ;D. Congratulations Cindy.
Thank you again for the Pritchetts generosity in hosting the Appleseed instructors every shoot. We look forward to seeing you both earn that rifleman patch (you are so close) and you both already have the heart of a Rifleman.
Please share you pics and stories. I will post pics soon.
Glad to hear the shoot went well. We were very sad t ohave missed it. I would have enjoyed having my family there again, especially in the small group.
We were at our annual Boy Scout Summer camp that weekend. Fun, but it's not the same as an Appleseed. Although I did shoot well enough to win the Scoutmaster shoot-off (2nd year in a row - thank you Appleseed).
I will miss the September shoot as well it appears work will have me out of state. However, we have a green light all systems go for the November shoot, and we'll make keeping that weekend clear top priority.
Keep up the great work!
