Well, it was a nice warm spring weekend in MS. It hit 102F on Saturday followed by a balmy 94F on Sunday. We darn near had to get our coats on. It didn't deter our 'Seeders, though. Six rifles on the line both days. Congrats to Kyle and John who shot Rifleman and earned their patches! I know when the rest come back, they'll earn theirs, too. Ashton shot well with her SW MP 15-22. Wallace soldiered on. Bryan (A real, live nuclear physicist from MA!) will be back. Once his equipment is straight, he'll get a patch. Congrats to Bishop and Paris (13 and 11) for improving on every string. I also want to thank Hornet41 for doing the third strike and keeping me in line all weekend. Now for the pics...

Ebben -- man, I'm impressed with what you've done with Como. Not quite a year ago at the first AS venue there, it was pretty tough sledding. I think my comment then (with about 6 inches of dust everywhere, and no grass in sight) was that even the Afrika Corps would have had a tough time making a go if it. Now I see that you've scheduled a venue there just about every month, and are consistently producing a growing string of Riflemen. My heartiest congratulations on putting Como on the Appleseed map!
In addition, looks like you've got good shade, and even grass to grow. Double "WOW"! Keep up the great work. See ya.

Well, what can you say? Appleseed in Como without rain and mud!!!! However the heat was brutal!!!!!! Bless the man who developed the pop up canopy!!!!!!!! At least we had shade!!
We had some eager shooters attending. They were tested for sure. Two shooters made Rifleman Sunday!! Kyle and John. Wallace, John's father most likely had a long ride home with the newly minted Rifleman!! Ha!
Wallace showed great persistence in spite of problems with his glasses fogging up and sliding down his nose. He never gave up and stuck with it to the end. Kudos are in order!!
Kyle (who is on the last week of leave from the Air Force) brought his Son Bishop Saturday and Bishop and his younger Son Paris on Sunday. Both boy's showed good safe rifle handling. They have a good teacher!! Kyle stated that at this Appleseed he fired more rounds than in his 5 years in the Air Force!! Brian struggled with equipment problems. Saturday was mags that wouldn't release and a bolt locked that wouldn't release. He borrowed a loaner. Sunday, with the bolt and mag problems resolved he had scope mounting trouble. I believe in the south we call that "snake bit"!! However in spite of all that he stuck with it and absorbed all the teaching well! At his next 'seed he will do well!
John also struggled with problems. His rifle was jamming constantly. He also borrowed a loaner. He didn't give up but stuck with it and seceded with a 211 on Sunday afternoon. Ashton couldn't attend Sunday but she shot her S&W MP 22 with iron sights very well. Hope she can attend the next one!
As usual, Ebben cracked the whip and kept everything moving along. He did have to break out the Army man a couple of times!!!!!! That got results!!!

I remember Kyle and Bishop from last summer. Glad to hear they made it back. I knew Kyle would get his patch; he was knocking on the door all weekend last summer with my borrowed 10/22. Congrats, Riflemen! Great job dart67eb and hornet41!
Dart67eb and hornet41, thanks for the instruction and patience this weekend. i had a blast and learned more about marksmanship every time i stepped up to the firing line, as well as every time you gentleman sat us down to speak about our heritage. i also haven't forgotten Wesm and Oldfudd's instruction from my first appleseed. My boys had an absolute blast, and i see another LTR for the youngest in the future very soon. Sigh, back to work this week, but I'll peek my head in here as I'm able
