Title: High water at KCR cancels shoot 4/23-24 2011
Post by: Mudcat on April 16, 2011, 09:53:44 PM
I called and spoke with Kenny at KCR today and he said the water was across the bridge and the range was closed. Water should be going down by April 20 as long as they do not get much more rain there and up river.  I will speak with him again on Wed.

A decision will be made as to the scheduled shoot on   April 20.

SHOOT HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO HIGH WATER

On the way home Friday night we noticed most of the rivers were high and muddy.  It rained hard Saturday (got cold enough to leave an inch of snow on the cars last night) and the are predicting more rain Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in the region.  More than enough water for everyone.  Stay safe and don't try and drive through high water.

Mudcat,
As usual, during the machine gun shoot, had the banner and fliers up in the campground.  Also left a stack in the range house.

Hope that helps your pre-regs.....if the water ever goes down!!  **)

Not looking good with rain predicted tonight and through wed evening. I believe he said it needs to drop below 50 for the lower range to be above water.

The water was up at Carrolton and in Indiana from Brownstown all the way down.  The spring in john's front yard was actually bubbling water up and running.  Luckily we had few enough shooters he let us use his pistol range.

The decision to notify the preregistered shooters has been made. The lower range is still under water and very slight chance it will drop low enough to have a shoot there by this weekend.

Shoot is canceled and Hopefully will be rescheduled. We still have 4 more shoots at Knob Creek Range this year to attend.

Yes SPQR the spring in John's front yard runs even when they are having a drought. :sos:

The Creek is definitely flooded! (http://gunlink.info/forums/index.php?topic=197.0)

Will registered shooters get a refund, a pass to a future shoot or what?  How does that work?  What about passes to other nearby shoots (e.g. Carrolton)?

Can't you rent a couple pontoons?    Make it a John Paul Jones shoot?

Let's hope the berm doesn't wash away, and you can be up and runnin' in no time!

Here is a copy of what was sent to preregistered shooters.

Hello,
I was asked to inform you that the Knob Creek, KY Appleseed - April 23-24, 2011 event has been cancelled due to the access road literally being under water. If you would like a transfer to another event, please email info@appleseedinfo.org. A list of KY Appleseed events can be found here: http://appleseedinfo.org/search-states.php?filter=KY&statename=Kentucky
Thank you for your understanding,
Leslie
Appleseed Volunteer

Sadly the entire range is under 3' of water with heavy rain expected for the next 3 days.
