Title: Northfield, VT March 12-13 2011
Post by: Whisker on March 12, 2011, 07:23:10 PM
Day one went great at Dead End Farm's first Appleseed.

Ten shooters on the line this morning.  One shooter was a volunteer actor from History Channel's show where they depicted the battles of lexington and concord and other early rev battles.  He's also the local very skilled ninjitsu teacher.  Also, instructors from the local skills school ROOTS (rootsvt.org) were present.  The range is at the last farm on a mountain just west of northfield.  Beautiful surroundings, despite the 4 foot snow pack!  We dug a shelter and paths out, put down pallets to get above the snow.  The rain yesterday helped to compact the snow to make it more walkable.  A lot of prep work really helped keep shooters happy and dry during this true winterseed.  The only hang ups were slow firingline to target line walking and some old/shotty .22s- lever action and tub feds.  People over all did real well!

Tomorrow we'll be doing lots of AQTs as well as ironing out of bumps in the shooters.

Appleseed is welcome back to the farm-  The summer will enjoy more Appleseeds- Full distance included!  (pretty sure we'll get at least 400 yards, but i'll need to pace it with the snow shoes tomorrow)

Thanks to the Mannings and Dead End Farm!
