pssssst fred--just thought i,d let you know there's something going down in texas. all weekend i kept hearing little snippets about "available freezer space "and"HIS favorite bbq sauce" and the crew was practicing crow calls at lunch! I mean "all" they did was get 2 more shooters to rifleman score, congratulations gentlmen, got one young man ,11years old, almst to200, HIS older brother just over 200, and a lady who hadn"t been to an appleseed before shooting a 190 with her dad's military trainer! And thats not even mentioning graduating FIVE new instructors[alonso1,snaitf,voortreker dennis and sleepy joe, CONGRATULATIONS GUYS] and picking up 2 more IIT'S. Something's afoot fred , they,re talking about spreading appleseed to houston and dallas[that's one determined bunch down there] so unless you REALLY like the taste of crow you might want to find another state to lavish your attentions on. just thought i'd let you know
Holy cow! Red Hats running around in TX?!? What is the world coming to! I will be forced to abandon my SC soon. They haven't even had an Appleseed yet, and TX is turning out Red Hats by the dozens!
Congrats fellows! Thanks for the hard work, sweat and perserverance! And don't think that now that you're underneath that crimson medal of honor that you can go back to the couch! No siree! Now you have and you have to USE it!
Fortunately, I know these men and I know that they'll soon set TX on fire. (Not lliterally, like Tracerfire did, it's just a metaphor) Congrats again on the upgrades gentlemen! Now get out there and make more Rifllemen! ;) JB
Whoa there, TF, I need you fellers to slow down a bit!
I can't afford to have Texas become a hotbed of Appleseed and liberty - and real Americans!
I need you guys to be motivators for other states.
Just this weekend, I threatened the crew in NV with putting them on a bus to Texas if they didn't start shooting better - and you should have seen 'em go to it! Couldn't fire a miss, hardly!
I'd sure hate to lose that wonderful stick I now can use - it seems to work every time I use it!
But, just in case, do you guys pluck the crow, first? >:( ;D
BBQ Sauce?
Y'all are letting him off easy.
Fred, you're just going to have to find a new spot to threaten them with. New Hampshire is starting to look like a good candidate for that. I can't get a range to commit to an Appleseed over there.
Them New Hampshirites have to go to Vermont, or even New York or Massachusetts to go to an Appleseed. Their forefathers would have them eating crow in "a New York minute" if they could. Ethan Allen sure would be laughing at them, and Robert Rogers would be disgusted. Of course, Rogers was a damned Loyalist back in the Revolution. Maybe that's their problem, they have too close a link to Rogers.
And yes, there are some New Hampshirites that ARE working hard tpo find a spot for an Appleseed. It's the clubs and ranges that aren't cooperating.
Congratulations to all those new Red Hats in Texas. I know you guys have worked hard for those hats and the coveted instructor patch.
I wouldn't worry too much about Fred. He may whine a little but he's as proud as he can be about the good work being done in Texas.
Congratulations are also in order for Scout who is up to his elbows in everything good happening in the Southwest.
VAshooter
Thanks everyone! Yep, show up for boot camp only planning to learn to be a more proficient shot, get inspired, plant a few Appleseeds, give 'em time to grow and you have a few new red hats running around in Texas (with more Texas RH's soon to follow). I was humbled to have Scout hand me mine. Of course, after spending last weekend in the sun my face is still as red as my hat! :o
BBQ crow is tolerable. Don't ask me how I know. ;D
thanks jb i thought my user name origin would stay between us---,but, no secrets in a band of brothers, and thats how i feel about those texans. i just wish texas was a little closer to indiana. Fred ,dont worry about getting to use your stick to teach shooters, you should see the one scout has,in indiana we call them cattle prods, scout says it's a "shooter motivator" and it's great for getting the trigger leg pulled ALL the way up in prone----he just wouldn't let us take any photos of it in use ;D well as jb said while looking at his smoldering shoes------ tacer fire out
Hey... I don't know when Tracer fire "earned" his name but KAUKANA did the same thing in Shioction last year and we all got to to the 200yd dash to dance in the fire, just ask Guy! ;D ;D.... The Band of Brothers increases.
Well done Texans!
How does it feel to be the model for the nation?
Yep, well done indeed.
In Fred's defense, he might still be using Texas to scare the rest of the Nation, but included in the package of supplies for Texas along with seven new red hats, was a stack of "TEXAS" rockers for the Texans who shot Rifleman. First such Jacket rockers in the program. ;D ;D
I even gave one out to Rusty, AKA "The Bull", (even though he is, ssshh ....a Yankee....which I refuse to believe because he acts like a Texan ;D) because he was standing on Texas soil at the Nov. Boot Camp when he shot rifleman. ;) ;D ;D
Scout, some of us were born here and others just get here as fast as they can! ;D ;D ;D Russ is one of them thar 'naturalized' Texans.
So Scout, If I can get out to a Davilla BC and shoot Rifleman can I get a Texas rocker?
Seems like that would be worth the drive!
If the staff at Davilla can teach me how to shoot rifleman I am sure that they can get you over the hump. And you are right. Shooting at Scout's place is worth the drive.
