Title: Fighting the last war?
Post by: NHale on February 27, 2011, 09:58:20 PM
It occurred to me that we might not concern ourselves with trying to receive favorable press. Before the internet, we had no choice. But the world has changed since the turn of the millennium. We can do an end run around the hostile media and take it directly to the American people. We have some youtube presence, but can do much more. Rather than trying to court the NYT, we might consider Nutnfancy, etc.

Can't imagine that folks in the media like Glenn Beck would be any less openminded than NWT types. Cast your seed on good ground.

If the camera is the new gun, the internet is the new handbill, and youtube is the new townhall meeting.

Just a thought...

These are all true, and the main holdup has been a really good & professional looking quality end product.  Several times this has been started, and most ended before done.  As soon as we have something really good to run with, we will.

BTW: NYT was less something to court, and more something to survive.   O0

In Indiana we have begun another run which is to aggressively court the small local papers.  Think county and smaller papers.  The ones that are starving for content and whose readers really take notice of what is in the papers.  A huge paper article rarely got us more than a handful of people at an event.  Local forums and papers have made a much bigger result.

Internet is one end run.  The other is local media, small papers, all with attentive and interested readers.

Do you have any small papers where you are?  If so, let me know and between the two of us, let's get something to them!

Oh!  I should have asked: do you have audio/video training or experience?  We could use another video person to help do exactly what you were talking about in your post.

If so, please PM me.  Heck, even if not, please PM me.  We can use the help either way.
