Title: AAR - Eleanor, WV 12-13 FEB 2011
Post by: MacMcM on February 14, 2011, 12:34:50 PM
Great weekend for a Shoot... Is there a bad weekend?

Below freezing temps started our Saturday off as our four intrepid shooters took to the line. The wind was fierce all weekend and this SBIT got a good case of windburn.

The Instructor Corps was fortunate to have 100% teachable attitudes show up in our students.
Our 2 new shooters fought through equipment failures and those darn transitions, with smiles and the twinkle in the eye that we Instructors all recognize as "Man this stuff works!"

On Sunday we gained another returning student who promptly set about earning his Patch with a 222 score. Congrats Chris! Semper Fi Marine.

One Instructor got to requal and get his Winterseed patch on Saturday(Congrats Chrome).. good thing, 'cause those winds brought in that nasty warm weather that turned Sunday into a Standard Appleseed. 6" of gumbo mud ain't enough to make the grade as Winterseed.

I will post a few pics later, if ya got 'em, post 'em

Our IIT corps performed like a well oiled machine as well, JB and VanRichten ran a smooth line.

Thanks to all who showed up and learned this weekend (MacMcM as well)
More to follow,
Mac

Great weekend!  I'm happy with my progress albeit slow. (: I'm even happier to see Chris get his patch! WHOO HOO!  Very very cool.  Can't wait until April!

Sorry about the drive-by photo drop. :D

This shoot was great.  We saw Savagerabbit's scores increase steadily all weekend.  She's edging up into rifleman territory now.  It's pretty great to watch that progress.

Chris... his story was kind of amusing.

I served with Chris long ago and far far away in the musty-dusty.  I know, KNOW that Chris can shoot.  Well.  He just had some rust to shake off.  So for the duration of the day on Sunday, Chris really didn't get much personal instruction.  We just let him soak up the same instruction everyone else was getting.  Then Mac wanders over to me.  He points out an issue he saw with Chris's technique.  I walk over... whisper to him, "hey.... this next AQT... focus on $X."

And I'd just given a little pep-talk on how you have to WANT rifleman to shoot rifleman.

The very next AQT, Mac noted that Chris was (and this is how Mac described it) ALL BUSINESS.  Yes, in all caps.  He said it in all caps, and that's how I heard it.  ALL BUSINESS.

222.

Mac told Chris, "this is one of our paychecks, handing these over to folks that have earned 'em."

Mac's right. :)
