1) 2011 Instructor Purchase Program sheet is out, specifically mentioning Appleseed instructors as eligible to participate in the program; can send to RHIs via email.
2) Gunsite Rifle (subject of original post) not on list, but Ruger typically will sell anything they make via the IPP.
3) Also have word from my Ruger contact that they won't be doing a print catalog in 2011 - have to make do w. the on-line one.
4) IPP still generally appx 30% off msrp.
5) Will start working on S&W tomorrow, when their people have returned from the Shot Show.

Did you hear if it uses AICS mags or some new Ruger proprietary mag?

I'll check when I get home, MA told me last month but I forgot because it didn't really interest me
It would be nice if Ruger made a 20" barrel rifle with a removable magazine.
This looks like a really good effort by Ruger. It does seem to be a bit, ...errrr...corpulent, shall we say? Col. Cooper specified 3 Kilograms weight for a scout rifle, and IIRC, this included the scope, which was to be forward mounted, as this rifle provides for.
With a synthetic stock...it might fall in spec.
They are AI mags at $80 a pop.

I want to know who made the bottom metal and if it can be swapped onto another rifle. I'd love to swap one in on a stainless .260.
The AICS mags, while not cheap, have come down in price. Less than $60 now, about the same price as a 5 round mag for a Tikka or a 4 round mag for an FN SPR.Never mind, this Ruger does not use AICS mags, they are single stack "AICS style" mags. I was mistaken, according to another site the AICS mags do work in this rifle even though the Ruger manual says to only use Ruger mags.
I'll get my FN threaded and new CDI metal for it and be on my way.
CDI Precision is making DM bottom metal for a variety of bolt action rifles now.

Alpha Industries is now making AI Mags domestically.
