Hi,
I know that this is a Tech Sight crowd but I'm thinking of buying a set, so does anyone have experience with the Williams FP-RU-TK on a 10/22? Good or bad? What is your experience with them?
Thanks

The odds of you finding someone who has used them on a 10/22 is low. The fact is that they are a quality product but you are going to pay more for just a Williams rear than you will for a set of front and rear Tech-Sights. You would still have to purchase a Tech-Sights front and you are going to spend more time getting a zero initially. Your rear aperture choices are highly reduced or eliminated as you can use any standard or Match AR rear sight aperture with the Tech-Sights rear if you are using the one which is not elevation adjustable. If a different Williams Aperture is available you are looking at even more money.
If you are looking for something different, don't mind spending the extra cash and have time to figure out your zero long before you show up at an Appleseed with your rifle, and can live with a larger aperture then the Williams is an alternative. Most people would just see it as a hassle, spending money where you do not have to and deliberately limiting aperture choices.
My personal ltr is a T/C Classic. Great little rifle, auto bolt lock, much better than average trigger, mags change easy, solid steel receiver, threaded barrel... just a general step up in quality from a 10/22.
I put a Willams FP sight with target turrets on it. Great site, very precise, high quality, machined steel, quality finish, quality mounting hardware... but yeah, it was around 100 frns for just the rear. A Williams post for the front was another 80. Windage and elevation have a great deal more adjustment and a positive feel, just all around a high quality sight.
Williams offers an entire line of screw-in apetures, from 0.050 to 0.125, hooded, flat, twilight, et al. They are, after all, made for competitive precision shooters!
Yeah, I could have bought several tech-sight equipped marlin 795's for what I have in the T/C. Most of us could get by with a Mosin Nagant as a primary rifle, but for some reason most of us seem to have M14's, FAL's, HK91, et al. Nothing wrong with opting for quality!
I think you'll be quite happy with your Williams sights!
Ron, I have a set of Williams FP on my oldest 10-22. As noted above, the interchangeable apertures are nice. The only problem I have encountered with them (aside from my eyes getting too old for open sights) is that the set screw which locks the adjustment will work loose if you do not watch it closely. I used this rifle more to hunt with than target shoot and it proved to be a nice system that allowed me to utilize the existing front sight. I hope this helps.
Thanks to all for the great info.
I think I will go the Williams route, cost difference is only 2 bricks of 22 and it just seems to have the quality and ease of adjustment. Now I'll see if I can still hit that black thing out there somewhere without the scope. **)
