Here's a candle to help drive away the shadow of "The Dark Side".
This was in The Wall Street Journal (!) :
If the new Congress to be sworn in on Wednesday is the tea party's cardinal achievement so far, its most symbolic achievement will come on Thursday, when the first order of business in the House will be a reading, aloud, of the Constitution. That event alone will not bring us any closer to limited government. But it will help get a debate going that for too long has been dormant.

Excellent. Certainly this means that the Speaker of the House will no longer be
laughing at the mention of the Constitution. How far we have sunk, that this may be considered an achievement. But it is.
Of course we need to "SOM-SOM", but this,
this is what it's all about, right? Let us all remember that thanking our Rep's for whatever good they do is part of SOM.
Thanks for the encouraging news, FreeStater.
Hearing it and listening to it are two different things. ++) Maybe there should be a test at the end. ;)
Hoping something like this happens:
11 When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes. 12 He gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Akbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the secretary and Asaiah the king's attendant: 13 "Go and inquire of the LORD for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the LORD's anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us." (2 Kings 22:11-13)
FS thanx for posting this important info.
I heard some 5th column drone on the TV screeching something about "duh no effect on law" whatever that means :-[
Last time I saw the constitution mentioned was when an un named Ca. senator held up a pocket version with a distastful smirk "I dont see it in here" refering to gun rights . Earth to senator it's the one following ---Congress shall make no law...
One other positive aspect of this act is it symbolically puts international law back where it belongs -------Europe and it's clones .

Things like this give me SOME hope...however we must remain ever vigilant.

Test would probably be a good idea... O0
They should read both the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. It is amazing to see the hate some people in the media have for the Constitution on display because of the reading of the Supreme Law of the Land by the new Congress.
Garand ^5
Yes i agree -- read the Declarartion 1st O0
W/O the Declaration, the constitution does not come across as intended,
Next time when pro liberty forces have contol of the senate . O0

"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!""

Just as the Bible is a mystery to non-believers, (they have not the spirit to help them interpret the Word) those that do not believe in our founders written Constitution will have no idea of what is outlined for our Republic.
Tho', it is good to hear it is being read aloud for our representatives. Wish they all would carry a copy and read it as diligently as they should.
( After, IMO, praying for guidance from our father God to steer our nation in HIS chosen direction.)
Well said Sparks O0
I share your sentiments exactly .

Well said, Sparks O0
As long as we're talking about this, again, remember to take one minute to do something too --- thank your Rep (even if they're agains't it --- they'll get the message).
For all of you that think this is the start of a new beginning. I feel for you. The people we have representing us are so out of touch. Just think about what has happend to your great nation in the last 50 years. (100 years). The only thing that will save this nation is God and us. Us meaning the people that will sacrifice so that our children will have a chance at freedom and not chains. When is enough........enough????? Some things are worth dieing for.......Just ask Jesus......And a US soldier.

Without faith what is there??? While I understand your sentiment, and I have been there , our founders gave us the opportunity to change this nation via a vote. Not having to take up arms as they did nor pay the price they paid.
There is no other response I can offer you. Join us and get involved.
I wish there where words that would put this troubled heart to rest........I try to listen for the answers to my prayers @) and what the good book is telling me. But I have two daughters that deserve more then they are going to get. :'( And I blame the people sir. Not our Congress or Senate or President. It's US..... Not personally.....the American people. I wish just 1/16th of the population could get a clue. Reading the Constitution tomorrow? Please............ If they are elected "by the people for the people" in the House of Representatives they should know the Constitution wouldn't you think? And if they don't why are they in Washington to begin with. It's a scam.....They say Cherry Kool-aid goes down the easiest.
Cyclops WY
PS And yes I am pissed.....And involved........
They are reading the the constitution in order to honor it O0 Further they are reading it as a symbolic jesture of it's importance .
I listened to Speaker Boener acceptance speech and I am impressed.
All the hard work to get a new congress who starts out with a the 1st ever reading of the constitution . I am impressed and proud of those who worked so hard within primaries and getting out the vote. I see a better days ahead for us .
If you think reading the constitution is not a big deal -- do a search on DEMOCRATIC PARTY PLATFORM 2008 -- then read the same from Republicans Party Platform 2008 --- I think you will see the in your face attitude towards the party that embraces "reasonable gun control" including AW ban -gun show loophole etc .
JA
I'm all for reading...even more for understanding. It's not for me to make a judgment call about this one way or another; time will do that. May they all be led by the Spirit of truth...

With respect, the words in bold suggest you know what the future holds.
I don't, which is why I am in Appleseed - because of my belief that the future is not yet written, and that by our efforts, we can influence the writing of it.
I don't know your daughters, or what they deserve to get - but if they deserve a free country populated by an awake and alert heritage-loving people, then I hope your presence on this forum means you are Appleseeding every chance you get, to help us make that our future.

No question about it: the American people deserve a lot of blame for slipping into forgetfulness, for putting their heritage in danger of becoming lost.
On the other hand, other American people, via Appleseed, are working to correct that - so there is hope.

I hope your involvement is in helping this program grow. I've run across, in my trips to WY, a lot of people in your state very complacent that "it'll never happen here" - and I think they're wrong.
If they don't do something, it will happen in WY just as it will in every other state.
Complacency, laziness, ignorance, apathy - look no further than down the street, or the house next door. All of them are as close as your nearest neighbor. That's a good place to roll up your sleeves, and start to Appleseed.

1/16th, huh?
Well they are, brother, they're gettin' it! Not many, yet --- only a few tens of thousands so far, at least via Appleseed. But
they we
are getting it. And even
1/160th of the population can affect some real change.
But our goal is even more modest than that --- a million -- a little over
1/16,000th of the population.

I hear ya! But I've found that action is more therapeutic than words, and certainly better than cherry kool-aid.
Words? What about the words of George Washington, "General Orders" July 2, 1776, in the dark days of the War:
"Let us therefore rely upon the goodness of the Cause, and the aid of the supreme Being, in whose hands Victory is, to animate and encourage us to great and noble Actions.""
Do these words
bring rest to stir your troubled heart? Project Appleseed is a bunch of individuals animated and encouraged to great and noble actions.
Fred's right, find ways to help us, or even join us if you hear the call. You'll likely never work with a finer group of Americans.
In regard to Fred and Gordans post's EXACTLY ^5
I just checked nra news and nevada has 14 new progun laws proposed and the votes to implement them O0
Recently I read that in Wyoming --anti rights forces have several counties along the I 80 corridor. I have frequently stopped along that route ,and talked with people ---- I also listened to local talk radio -- My observation --same as big city Cali. :(
With the above in mind we need to use AS --NRA --GOA and each state affiliate to change the course of history .
Respectfully

^Way to go Fred...totally agree. We need to have SOME hope...and correct our own errors.
Yep, Good things are happening all over the country in the cause of liberty. The progressives do not have a clue what has hit them. As for the reading? It is symbolic and a good one, I just wish they hadn't deleated parts. The only thing anyone "deserves" is an opportunity, what they do with it is their choice. As for blaming "the people", no, what has happened is my fault for allowing it to happen. I don't think anyone can look at themselves in the mirror and say they've done everything they could 5, 10, 20 or 70 years ago. The only effort that counts is sweat created today and tomorrow...O.L.

I think everyone on the forum has taken "My daughters deserve" out of context.......The ONLY think they DESERVE is a chance at freedom............That's it.........No more...........No less.............And if we stay the course they will not get that.............And that is unacceptable.

We had a great culture with freedoms enumerated by the Second Amendment ... until Miller and NFA '34.
Armed confiscation of civilian firearms? Nope. A wiseass booze cop and a clueless Supreme Court.
They won with PAPER. We can win using the same methods. You just have to have enough patience to play the game, and the kind of mettle where you don't flinch shoot or blink first.

Just words, but that's how they're gonna try to back us all into a corner, paint us with a broad brush, and sell us into slavery.
Relax. Stay cool. Watch, listen, learn. Then play to WIN.
Nothing but the last move of the game counts.
