Title: 2011 looks slow
Post by: douglas34474 on December 28, 2010, 11:13:44 PM
Went to sign up for some AS shoots in 20011 and the numbers don't look good.

Are more shoots in the pipe line?

Hundreds and hundreds, no doubt!

As of Jan 6, 2010, we had 296 events scheduled for 2010.

As of Dec 28, 2010, we have 410 events scheduled for 2011.

"Slow"? Yes perhaps, by "doubling" we should have 500-600 already. But we're certainly way ahead of where we were this time a year ago.

Got any new ranges in mind?   :cool2:

I won't be able to make it. I'll be dead.

douglas,
The problem is one of slacking on my part. I have yet to pick the twelve dates that Manatee offers us, plus RCR is offering another 8 (they are so close - may be best to stick with RBC / IBC / KDC there). I also have a Bunnell date to set up. I promised ItsanSKS I would take care of Manatee, but I am too busy eating Christmas cookies to do my duty. Mea Culpa.

Rest assured sir, that there will be zero shortage of events. What we do have is a critical shortage of shoot bosses and instructors who are willing to serve. If we had more like u - we'd be in good shape.

When we get Bunnell on the schedule, I'll sign up to work that one for sure. I have a few folks who would like to sign up to attend. Build it and they will come... The range has given their blessing for Jan 29-30.

I know where to look on the site, but I was unsure if they were up to date. I was hoping for a st. aug, bunnel, ocala, or jax shoot. Speaking of jax, has anyone contacted gateway gun club about appleseed?

Working on the 2011 schedule as we speak.  (or as you read, I guess)

Have added a few events already, need to revise the Event Information Pages and contact the above-mentioned ranges.  Could seriously use some help in this, as I'm working 10hr shifts at work right now, which practically bars me from contacting ranges during business hours.

We *have* been in contact with Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club (GRPC) in Jacksonville, and their BOD has tentatively approved our use of their facility;  however, they have yet to send back a completed Host Application, and are extremely slow to respond to emails.  If *someone* happened to live near GRPC, and wanted to get the ball rolling there, the person to talk to would be Brenda Linker.

Also working on Silver Springs, which was an excellent venue for us last year.  I hope to get at least 3-4 events out of them this year...

If any of you would care to help, please PM me, and I'll get you pointed in the right direction.

-ItsanSKS

We will be sharing our heritage and learning to shoot rifles in Pensacola on February 5 and 6.  We have a great facility and are very Appleseed friendly.

You are all invited to come and enjoy your weekend here!

If we continue to use Pops in Ft Lauderdale, I will always do my best to make it down there to help out.  My work schedual is very hectic and never certain, but I always try to leave a weekend a month open.

I will also do my best to make it out to Manatee and RCR, and definitley for our big April shoot(s).  Would really like to attend an IBC soon, and I know thats in the works.

I dont know the schedual, but I'd hate to not see anymore shoots in South East Florida (at pop's or wherever)

Alchemist,
Do we have an event at Escambia on that date?

We do have an event Feb 5-6 on instructor scheduling but for some reason it doesn't appear anywhere else.

It is at the ERML range.

The EIP for Pensacola was posted just this morning, with the Feb 5-6 date.

Is there a flyer I can download for the ERML/Escambia/Pensacola event for Feb 5-6?  If not, is there a template I can customize myself?

I really need to get cracking on promoting this event.

Thanks for any help,

Tim

There is typically a downloadable form on the Event Information Page. Just search for a shoot from the main website like you would if you were a shooter and click on the more information link. Should take you right to the appropriate post on the forum where you can download the flyer.

I just confirmed 12 dates with Myakka City (Manatee Gun and Archery) and sent them along with updated EIP to SavageShootr! A day late, but not short, except in stature of course.  ..:..

That's the good news - the easy part. Now comes the tough row to hoe - finding qualified staffing for these events - men and women who know well what they are about and place Liberty above all else. Isaac Davis died for our Liberty - what will we do for our posterity? Can we "sacrifice" a dozen weekends per year for Liberty?

In December, I gave up Christmas lights for Liberty - easy choice. In late January, I will give up something called "Gasparilla" - a long tradition with my oldest and dearest friend - no hesitation. I do not stand alone - not nearly. So many have given up so much more I am ashamed to even mention the preceding. I do so only as a small example of how trivial these things, that seem so important, are in comparison to what is at stake - Liberty.

Besides - what's better than spending a weekend passing on the storied traditions of our ancestors, surrounded by like-minded Americans? Come on in - the water is fine.  O0

Yup, that's the first place I looked for the Pensacola flyer.  It isn't there?  Anyone know who it is that posts these or another place I can get the flyer or a template?

The link to the online info., but no downloadable flyer on this page.
However, you can just do a copy/paste on some nice paper w/the RWVA banner logo across the top.  O0

The flyer maker was notified that the EIP was up yesterday. The flyers should be up on there soon.

Thanks for your patience.

Went to sign up for some AS shoots in 20011 and the numbers don't look good.

Are more shoots in the pipe line?

howdy

It looks like the opportunities have materialized, and the responses (Instructor Scheduling) aren't overwhelming. We are long on Indians and short on chiefs so far this year. The chiefs are working, how about the rest of us?

If the unthinkable happens and we have multiple events on the same weekend and only 2 SB's statewide, they must make a painful but informed decision. They need to know where the staffing and support is ahead of time in order to make the call and divert resources in the chosen direction.

We need to sign up for any event as early as we can so they can see what they have to work with. PHenry and ItsanSKS have been nothing but a class act to me and deserve nothing less in return. Let's see what we can do. It's early, but the clock is ticking.

Thanks!
Joe

I'll always do my best to help out at an event, but I know for me personal, and a couple other IIT's, my work scheudal is all over the place and weekends are the hardest thing to get off right now.  I dont usualy know my work schedual until a couple days ahead of time, it changes that much.

Any free weekend I have I'll do my best to make it out, but I doubt I'd have much notice to let the SB's know more than a few days ahead of time.  Ive talked with them about it though.

Heimdhal,
Come when u can, where u can and is will be appreciated. We do what we can with what we have. Sunday only - works for me. It's consistent service that makes the difference. We have handed out a ton of orange hats here in FL and have precious little to show for it. I often wonder what all them hats are doing? What hook are the collecting dust on? Is it like a trophy - earned and then forgotten in the back of some closet? This is what keeps the SB up nights you know - where have all the orange hats gone?  :'(

The mission has not changed. The water is rushing in and the ship is still sinking. Don't let any current political "good news" fool you. Politics is  like the weather - one day chicken, next day feather. Appleseeds is about climate change - hearts and minds of the people. Lady Liberty has one foot out the door. Come out and help us invite her inside to sit by the fire until she feels safe and warm again.  O0

Let's roll.

Huzzahh! loks like were rollin' now!  SLY223 Reporting for duty.  Come on Folks get off the couch, take the next step and help our two solo SB's and the few we borrow from nearby states! 2011 is now on the books and waiting for your input and more seventh stepping to fill the lines. I'd rather do a few full events than alot of sparsly populated firing lines. I also challenge myself this year, I have very high expectations of myself.
I will not allow even (ADDISON) to deture me from the mission of the year. Only a few weeks.

My oldest, Jasen, will be visiting here (NM) this weekend from the Orlando area.  Just in time for the Carlsbad shoot....  I think we MAY be able to hook him, then it'll be up to you (PHenry) to reel him into your crew.  ;)
