A sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to the two intrepid Appleseeders who ventured out on the southeastern PA frozen tundra to share range time and Heritage with us. The temps were below freezing for most of the day both Saturday and Sunday, peaking just over in the early afternoon before plunging back down into the "meatlocker" range by dark.
The weather was the 800-pound gorilla that dominated the event. Frequent warm-up breaks were required, heavy clothing made shooting positions awkward, and the bone-numbing cold affected the mental states of shooters and instructors.
Having said that, it was a very successful Appleseed, as well. Mary and Tom (Sivispacemparabellum on the forum) came prepared for the weather, and prepared to learn marksmanship skills and Heritage. Their prior shooting experience allowed them to make the most of range time abbreviated by the cold and the short winter days. They were active participants in the Heritage discussions, rapidly absorbed the marksmanship instruction, and even provided a lead for a future host range in southern Delaware! :~

Tom earns Pennsylvanias first Winterseed Rifleman patch, shooting a 222 score with a bolt-action! Even better, he agreed to put on an Orange Hat! ^:)^
Congrats Tom on the 1st PA Winterseed badge. Awesome job. And congrats to Mary for cleaning that Redcoat. Can't say i recall seeing one of those in quite a few months. Thank you both for the extremely positive attitudes that remained a constant all weekend. It's hard to stay upbeat when it's in the 20s outside & we're asking you to bend & contort in many many layers of clothes, but you guys did just that... and with a smile.
Great event, Lee and congrats on the promotion to SB.
First picture is Tom well into the Rifleman's bubble as Big H's brass was landing on his back
Second is PA's newest Shoot Boss EZ3 awarding his first Orange Hat to Tom! Congratulations to both of you for a job well done!
Great job in challenging conditions! ;D
Congratulations (from California) to Tom and Mary for outstanding achievements under frigid conditions.
