I knew after the first squares COF this would be an energizing affair and the attendees did not disappoint. 4 Riflemen, 1 Riflewoman and at least 5 over 200.
Congrats to Jeff, Liz and Michel, the first family I have worked with who know very well what they are about. All qualifying in the same weekend. Also to Jeremy and Steve.
Our 9 year old shooter shot a 143 (a 48 on the 1st Stage), all open legged sitting with a floppy sling. Thanks to Chuck for helping her out on Saturday and keeping an eye on her over the weekend.
Zach from D/FW and Thomas both accepted the OH and Kirby looks good in that new RH.
Thanks Scout, Chuck, Larry, Kirby, Bill, Zach and Thomas for making this a successful weekend.
Another good shoot to finish up the year.
As usual there were a really good group of Americans out to learn some history and get some marksmanship training. That's what I love about doing shoots, meeting the type of people that give me hope for this country. There's still plenty of good decent Americans that care about this country.
We had 17 shooters out for the event of which 12 were back on Sunday.
We had good weather, except for the wind, but that's about par for the course in Davilla. You'd think Davilla was smack dab in the middle of Amarillo if you didn't know better, lol.
What was great was we had two new Orange Hats step up. Thomas and Zach. Both are fine additions to the crew and I hope to see then around on the trail someday soon. Thanks so much guys.
I've not seen better shooting by a group of students ever. We only got in 1 AQT on Saturday but got 2 rifleman on that one. Wow! Steve and Jeff did some fine shooting.
There were two families with us and talk about families that can shoot!
Jeff the father, Mike, and Liz, one of the families, all qualified. Dang!! I guess Jeff telling them they would have to walk home if they didn't get a patch helped with their shooting. Just kidding guys.
Another family, Steve the father, Suzanne his wife, and Amber his daughter were really good too. Steve got his patch. Amber had a 207 but then towards the end of the day her rear sight loosened up. She is an excellent shot. I'd bet money if it wasn't for the rear sight she would be toting a patch home too. Suzanne, the wife, really improved big time too. A few rifle malfunctions plagued her though.
Jeff was the other rifleman. Jeff is a very nice polite young man. Good to know our younger crowd are still good people.
And speaking of the younger crowd, Tommy, our SBIT, bought out Bree (yeah Tommy, I can't remember how to spell her name correctly so I'll shorten it to Bree) his daughter. She is simply an adorable young lady. I remember walking out to check targets and I asked her "Now isn't this a lot more fun than watching TV?" and she responded with "Oh, I don't like to watch TV." Wow I thought. I then asked her "Well do you like to read?" and she responded with "Oh, I love to read!" It's really go to know that not all kids are being bought up to be brain dead. Good going Tommy, you're doing an excellent job as a father.
YAY, BREE !!! ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^
HUZZAH! HUZZAH! HUZZAH!
You go, Girl !! O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0
Well, I missed a good one ... naw, a great one.
Tommy, I hope I'm there when you get your SB wings.
Ya'll have a Merry Christmas and I'll see you on the trail in 2011.

Thanks to all the instructors and new orange hats, I had a great time and learned a ton out there this weekend! Hope I see you all again at the next AS that I can make it to, maybe I can get those 8 extra points and earn my patch!
And @thesheepdog...awesome score for the KD AQT with no sling. Seeing that 1/2moa group was impressive, you'll clean up next time for sure!
Happy holidays to everyone!
