Title: AAR: Hubertus WI Dec 18 2010
Post by: JoeZ on December 19, 2010, 09:06:55 AM
Hello all and Merry Christmas.

Our last of the year shoot was cold and a little breezy but our shooters were and instructors were well prepared. The temps never got over 20 and the wind made it feel colder but the morale was very high. I only had one break to the clubhouse  ~~:) as time was limited but the shooters never complained. What a great group. Congrats to our new rifleman and good job to all our shooters, two of which went from completely green to respectable  group sizes. Pics to follow.

A big thanks to all the instructors who came out.

High of maybe 17 degrees.
Windy with very light flurries in the morning.
Enough snow on the ground to shovel out a line.
Great group of instructors. Excelent Shoot boss.
Even better shooters.
Oh. Did I mention 25% RIFLEMAN.
A good time was had by all.

Hi everyone, this was a nice way to wrap the year.  My first shoot of the season was here in January, and ending here was a nice touch.  The range looked pretty much the same!

Thank you to all who braved the cold and the snow to join us on this nice crisp winter day.  As others have said, all came well prepared, and willing to learn!!  We had a great time, and quickly got things rolling, and turned on the fire hose.  By lunch, we were almost ready for our first AQT!!

Here are some pictures, and some proof of our Winterseed!   ^:)^

Thanks to all the instructors, and I will see you next year!

I had a great time at the Appleseed class on Saturday, frozen fingers and all! Thanks to Bob P. for introducing me to this organization and to Joe and all the other instructors for their time and patience. I was impressed by the knowledge and experience under those red and orange hats. Shooting off a bench a few times a year does not prepare you for real world marskmanship and after a few hours of occasional plinking I have only managed to pick up some bad habits. I'm happy to finally have something solid I can practice. This has certainly renewed my interest in history and shooting. I'm determined to get some friends and my 5 brothers-in-law signed up for one this next spring. Next time I'll bring a pen and paper to write down some of those quotes I wish I could remember. ~Jon.

What a great time this Winterseed was!  Having just finished Newt Gingrich's Valley Forge (I recommended it as a Christmas gift for those interested in history) it was a moving experience.  To imagine the hardships those men and women endured.  We were all enclosed in our high-tech gear and still were well aware of the elements.

The Winterseed's are a fantastic experience.  It is a great time to check out your equipment and the challenges that come with spending 8 hrs in adverse conditions.  Also the act of finding and keeping NPOA with numerous layers on is completely different than a normal summer day.

Really had a enjoyable day with the shooters and fellow instructors.  As JoeZ mentioned, never a complaint from anyone.

Oh, you see that do ya.

It was a bit cool out for the shooting jacket (insert shivering emoticon) so I had to wear something heavier.
