Title: AAR Piru CA Dec 11/12 2010
Post by: V on December 13, 2010, 06:35:11 PM
Wow, we really earned our Winterseed patches this weekend, mid December and it was 75 both days!

All new Appleseeders and 1 Rifleman.

Will  edit this later tonight when I get my notes, just wanted to get the thread started.

Feel free to add.

Thanks to all the shooters and the IITs who turned out.

Cheers
Phil

Double double 30 cal trouble,
Piru winds with dust and rubble...

Funny watching for heat exhaustion and dehydration while others are digging out from snow.

My weekend higlights:
Mark was one serious customer that hit 210 but we ran out of light and North Bridge water!  I've been waiting a while to give as well as I got when I hit my 210...I'm sure there will be other chances though.

I think Christian learned enough so the next Buck will not escape.

Steve proved that some Veterans are still as tough as ever shooting through til Sunday with an M14 and a t-shirt.

Jerry persisted with a light striking firing pin and never gave up!

Kevin and Dad did some impressive shooting I can only hope to have such fun and friendship with my daughter.

I was pretty sure Ben (no Q) was trying to do "Jingle Bells" by ringing the 100 yard steel rapid fire.

With my electronic ears I couldn't hear the gunshots but heard the constant click of good follow-through as triggers reset.
It made me laugh out loud when I realized what it was and then I suddenly felt very proud of all the shooters.
With V, Daniel and Tom around I was impressed and humbled by my company.

Is it strange to look forward to working (Appleseeds) on the weekend?

;D :cool2: O0

Heh!
Nope.....

They serve well to break up the general monotony of what we call "work", which is that sad stuff we do when we aren't AppleSeeding...... ..:.. ^:)^ O0

See ya next weekend!!

Very cute, Mr. Pete!

Although I could only work Sunday, it was a great experience! First time meeting V and Tom. Both great assets to the program.
Pete, as always, it's an honor and a privilege to watch you work. Your professionalism brings great credit to the mission.

V, Daniel, Tom and Pete,

Thanks for the instruction, patience and very grounding history lesson.  Have shared already and lined 2 friends up to attend in 2011.  My daughter claims she is ready too.  At 8, I will see how she works an air soft first.

4M welcome to the forum . Thanx for sharing your experiances with us who missed the Piru AS
Bringing others and sharing   is rewarding  O0 Especially when they do the same after you got them on board .

Regarding your 8 yr old . The transitions are mostly to difficult ,with muzzle awareness etc.
Often times they have the distinction of being made "designated marksman" which is same target and rifle stays on a rest (sandbags ) and they shoot from prone . Of course instructors give them lots of special attention and encouragment .

IMHO this is worth considering , I see parents and children having a great time, participating in the only sport endorsed by those who founded America .

4M,

Your advocacy is greatly appreciated.  Let me know if you find something that works for your daughter so I can prepare my 5 year old!
