We had a very nice shoot this weekend in Gardnerville, NV
SB: Chris_H
RH: Arashi
Saturday was cold, windy & cloudy, but the only rain was a few small drops, although the threat of a sudden downpour (or "side-pour", given the strong icy wind) was present all day.
Nonetheless, 7 of the pre-registered shooters made it, & were joined by a dozen more, for a total of 19 shooters!
There was a wide range of experience on the line, but everyone persisted & showed great attitudes, despite the cold wind all day long!
We began with a safety briefing & welcome, then began shooting.
We went through the points of instruction, sling use, shooting positions, NPOA, the 6 steps, IMC. The information was well received by everyone & we saw groups steadily improve all day.
At lunch, the story of April 19, 1775 was shared, up through the fight at the North Bridge.
Time was a challenge on Saturday, and we were only able to shoot one AQT in the afternoon, then the shooters heard about the 3rd Strike of the Match that began the Revolutionary War before shooting at the final Redcoat of the day.
Sunday weather was a nice surprise. Not only did the wind die down to a breeze, the skies had cleared up and it was a bit warmer.
We saw 12 shooters return, and we took off at a quicker pace, reviewing the instruction from the previous day, then shooting our first AQT before lunch. Since several shooters needed to run up the road for food, we told stories of dangerous old men throughout the day, interspersing them between AQT's.
By the end of the day, two new Riflemen were found -
Mike, with scores of 219 & 240(!), and Featherblue, our fantastic host achieved two Rifleman scores as well - first a score of 210, & before we could get out some water from the North Bridge, he repeated the feat with a score of 226!!
Great job to both of you! O0 O0
Our biggest challenge this weekend was staffing & logistics, which unfortunately prevented us from being able to shoot at longer distances this weekend, but this DAR is not only capable of KD, but we're working on developing fixed KD ability for all future shoots.
I'd like to thank everyone who made it to the shoot, & would encourage everyone to come to the next one - it'd be great to have you all back!
Chris
PS - pics to follow.
Susie (Mrs. featherblue) and I want to thank Chris_H & Arashi, and gglovesguns for all they do and did at this shoot. O0 O0 O0
We also want to thank all the folks who showed up to shoot. All shooters were just fantastic people!!!!! ^:)^
I did not promote this shoot as I could have due to the late date in the year and the strong possibility of very bad weather (wet = MUD!).
Susie and I are looking forward to the coming spring and another great event here!

Just checked out the concurrently held shoot in Vegas as to AAR comments. They had 24/14 shooters. (Sat/Sun) We had 19/12 in G'ville and our range did NOT cost $65 MILLION dollars. ;D **)
We do have a "Million Dollar View" here however, so I guess I can't really complain about the . . . cost. ^-^
Put that in your pipe and smoke it folks. :)) Oh yea, we had THREE rifleman who each scored 210 or above two or more times (236 & 240). Gotcha' Vegas!!! :~
To be quite forthcoming, it was 40 degrees when we quit shooting on Saturday. Hmm, Vegas does sound attractive in that vein. ;)

Yeah that indoor plumbing sure is expensive.
But don't' forget that Southern Nevada also held an event two weeks earlier at Boulder City on the 16/17th.
We had 13 shooters there and two Riflemen scores.
All and all October was a great month for Nevada.
I've heard about your million dollar view and 600 yard range.
I've got to get up there sometime. It sounds wonderful.

Finally got enough of a breather to add in some of the pics we took! :))
Heh!!
Yeah, FB be smiling for sure this time!!! O0 O0 O0
Nicely done, all!!
Again, I missed you all.....
BTW, is Erik making a poster board collection of his RM patches?!?! :)) **) **) :~ ..:..
What more can be said, other than, when's the next one??

It was a fun shoot and I was glad to be able to be there. Thanks to Arashi and Chris_H for their hard work and to Mr and Mrs Featherblue for letting us use their land. I felt really special to have been able to be there on the momentous day when Featherblue earned his Rifleman patch. ^:)^
