Another beautiful weekend on the central coast (OK-it was Hades hot on Saturday, but everyone who was scheduled to return on Sunday did). No one melted, and no one passed out. Andrew became our only Rifleman for the weekend, but other AQT scores ran from from the high 170s to the low 200s. Lots of potential there, and we hope to see all of them again (bring a friend). We had so many walk-ons on Sat that we had to spill over to the adjoining range, and fortunately Marpats Pippi and Wittemore showed up to help. We would have had a really tough time with out them-thanks guys! 27 shooters on two ranges would have been a handful for 3 instructors.
Congrats to our new Red Hat Artkat2-great job! Thanks also to Dano who drove up from So Cal to help-it was great to work with all of you. We look forward to more events at the great SLOSA facility, and we hope to see everyone again and make lots of new Riflemen and women.

First I have to say yes count me in on any event at the SLOSA range! What a great venue for shoots. If you do schedule one for November please schedule so it does not conflict with Santa Barbara or Piru or Thanksgiving week, and I will be there.
That said it was a really great shoot I cannot believe the attitudes that people brought with them. Very few complaints about the heat or shooting with no cover for the line! A true testament to Riflemans and women's state of mind. The folks of the Central Coast are a willing group to take up the cause and carry Appleseed forward. All we need to do is provide the start. A big thank you to the Marpatts for showing up without you it would have been tough.
The 2x4 shoot was dominated by the left side team with no centerfire rifles. 3 out 3 wins cut down the 2x4 in 1.06 second! Great work and great groups! The other teams had centerfires and more shooters but could not compete!

This was my first Appleseed experience, and I must say it was quite enjoyable! I really did want to call it a day a few times due to the excessive heat and no cover on the firing line, but if we don't tough it out, who will? So close to Rifleman... 200 on Saturday and 182 on Sunday. Not to make excuses, but the heat did seem to take a bit of a toll.
If there is one in November, I am totally there, and have a buddy from L.A. who would come up for it (he also likes the SLOSA facility as well as the nearby Atascadero Santa Lucia Sportsman Association range).
I think the left side won with 100% .22LR due to hollow points... the ammo makes the difference (and of course the excellent shooting! Congrats to the "lefties" HA!)
My wife also expressed an interest to attend one, so I'll keep checking in for any announcements for Central Coast events.
Thank you Garand, Dano, Andy and all the others for putting on a great shoot! It really is not that hot here ;-)
