Title: Humansville, MO - 7/31-8/1
Post by: Greg in MO on August 02, 2010, 10:32:04 AM
Whew!  Was it hot in Missouri this weekend.

This was the 2nd shoot at the Humansville range.  At the first shoot in May we had 5 shooters.  This shoot we had 31 shooters, and at least 6 people that stopped by during the weekend to see what we were about.  Outstanding!  And all the credit goes to our promotion machine Paulette (Gramma Goats).  Well done Paulette!

I have to say that I have a profound respect for the good Missouri folks that showed up this weekend.  Despite intense heat with indexes well over 100 and almost no wind, we only lost 2 shooters to the heat.  They stuck it out, they perservered and they all came away better Americans and better shots than when they showed up Saturday morning.  I was thrilled to see so many families show up.  That is what Appleseed is all about.

Saturday we spent presenting all the fundamentals with good participation from the students.  The Missouri instructor crew was working hard to help several brand new shooters get comfortable with their equipment and get on target.  We managed to get an AQT in at the end of the day, but the heat had taken its toll all day and no Rifleman scores were achieved.

Sunday these students showed what they were made of and came back for another day in the heat.  An early AQT brought us our first Riflewoman for the shoot.  Congrats to Witchy Woman!  This was her second Appleseed.  Her first was in Osage in March, where it was 34 degrees and raining all weekend.  She knows how to perservere through the elements, and she immediately asked for an orange hat, which I was honored to give her.

After some drills to help with target shifts and cadence, more AQTs brought us an additional Rifleman!  Congrats Seth!

I would like to thank Paulette for hosting another shoot on her land, and for promoting this shoot like crazy.  I want to thank my instructors who did another outstanding job.  I really want to thank all the shooters that came out despite the punishing heat and never complained once about it.  Without you Appleseed could not succeed in its mission to save the country!

I hope we see you all at another Appleseed soon!

I hope we see you all at another Appleseed soon!

You're gonna get the chance... In addition to the September 4-5 LadySeed event already scheduled, I just got two more dates from Gramma Goats:  November 13-14 and December 4-5. Shoot dates have been submitted, should show up on the schedule shortly.

For all those who came and stuck it out in the heat:  Thanks.  Appleseed isn't any fun at all without shooters on the line.  Come back... please... and bring friends!

You make me blush :-[   I don't do any more then each one of you do in your own time, areas and ways to promote AS and i am sure i do a BUNCH less then the most of you. O0

YOU fellas are  the ones to be commended.  Telling the same thing over and over to a new group of shooters.  Standing in the sun while we sit in the shade... telling the story you know so well.  My hat (sun visor) is off to you all.

I am full speed ahead on the next level of promotions.   LadySeed is gona be so much fun you guys will be GREEN with envy  >:D

We might need a longer line for Nov and Dec..i just got off the phone with Vincient from the event in SPFLD... they are excited about us being there.  More on this in a  PM to you Chris as someone needs to do the reservation for the booth.

I am so excited about  the young men that showed.  I suspect they will bring a new crew with them next time.  What a great way to promote their youth!  responsible 'involvements/hobbies' go a long way to make for responsible citizens.

HEY --i called Smith and Wesson today and they promised to do everything they could to get my rifle fixed and back to me in time for LadySeed.

My girlfriend has now dubbed me 'RANGE WARRIOR'. She says she is glad my efforts are going for good...she would hate to think what would be accomplished if i were evil   ;D ;D ;D
