Title: Scientists reveal mystery word under smudge in Declaration of Independence
Post by: Xeyed on July 05, 2010, 03:03:45 AM
The Library Of Congress announced  that Thomas Jefferson made an important change to the wording in the draft of the Declaration of Independence. Scientific analysis has revealed that at the last minute he changed the word Subject to Citizen in the document. The smudge was from wiping the wet ink and writing over it with the updated word.

Subject Vs. Citizen.  That's a good summary of why our fore fathers mustered at Lexington and Concord. They were ready to be Citizens.

That is a critically important distinction.  I will definitely incorporate that into my history.  It gave me goosebumps when I read it.

Thank you very much.

That is very interesting... it should be included in the history portion of our weekend events.
April 19th is the day we went for being subjects to being Citizens.  That is most inspiring!!
