Title: AAR: Eureka, KS May 29-30
Post by: The ][rishman on May 31, 2010, 05:07:09 PM
We had a great bunch of shooters this weekend.   I am always encouraged by the people that show up at Appleseed.

I saw people who were persistent through equipment issues and those who wrestled with physical pain.  These are Riflemen in the making.
I love the quote from one student, after Old Grunt helped her get her sights adjusted and her groups tightened up," I'm one bad Grandma!"  And if by "bad" you mean dangerous, well then, indeed you are.  I was impressed with the folks, who even being first time Appleseeders, were very familiar with the history.

It was hot and humid here on the plains.  The shooters and instructors worked to stay hydrated and cool.  It was not easy, we did not get even a breeze until Sunday afternoon.

Old Grunt surprised me by dropping in on us.  I was glad to have his expertise on hand.  Anybody who knows him knows what a joy it is to have him around.   Thank you O.G.  Your feedback and encouragement mean a lot to us.

And to all the instructors (4bfox, GPBBiker, AdamSelene, dlm50Cal ) who came out this weekend, thank you.  You made my job so much easier. Your willingness and dedication to excellence are awe inspiring.

P.S.  Please post pictures if you have them. ( I know you do)

Another GREAT SHOOT! Glad to have OldGrunt show up, he always livens up the party...and brings his wealth of history and instructing abilities. Hope to see you up here again, OG! Youth shooters hung in there with the rest of the em', they earned those patches! Had several shooters REAL close, they'll  make it next time.

I DO have some pics:

Had a fantastic time guys.  Thank you to the instructors for the mentoring.  4bfox, you have a fantastic range in Eureka, you have really made it happen in your area and motivated me to look harder for a DAR in the Pittsburg area.

Wish I could have been out there, but I was in Las Vegas on Saturday and flying back on Sunday.    I'll see you guys in June though!

Only made it Sunday, but it was a good day, as any day spent Appleseeding is!  Still didn't get where I wanted on the paper, but every shot fired adds to the experience and skill level.  Thanks to Old Grunt and ][rshman as well as our IITs for putting on a great event.  I'm inspired to go to the RBC (now if only work will see things the same way)!
