I was just looking at our Preregistration Numbers for next 2 upcoming Appleseeds in Nebraska. They are awfully low! :-[
We all need to start talking to our friends and family about Appleseed. Maybe even speaking with the little people in our heads about attending a shoot. ^-^
Lets get those numbers up Nebraska!!
Lincoln NE June 12-13 http://www.eventbrite.com/event/621801826
Grand Island NE June 19-20 http://www.eventbrite.com/event/599481064
+1 gibbs. I agree! O0
I tell you guys what... I expect every Instructor and IIT attending either of these shoots to bring at least one shooter with you. I'd prefer you bring two. However, if you bring three or more, then I'll bring you a surprise*. And it will be a really good one, too. ;D The only catch is that I won't be at this Grand Island shoot, so you'll have to come to the Hastings shoot in July to claim your prize for that one. What do y'all say? Any takers on my challenge?
*surprise challenge is open to veteran Appleseeders who aren't yet an IIT or Instructor, too!
I'll be at this Grand Island shoot, and maybe Zombie and I can coordinate it to get two surprises, one here and one in Hastings!
MOG
I've got 1 shooter confirmed and registered for Lincoln so far with a couple other maybes in the works. 8) Who else has confirmed and registered shooters?
Come on everyone! We are only 3 weeks till Lincoln! 4 to Grand Island!
Remember the 7th step! Find at least one sleeping American and bring them to an Appleseed! Lets fill those lines!!
I signed up for the June 12th and 13th in Lincoln.
O0 O0 O0 O0 Now thats the stuff!! Who is next?
Hello Nebraskans,
I have 4 definite people signed up for the Lincoln Appleseed. (Possibly more!). All just graduated from high school. They're enthusiastic. Hopefully they will earn a rifleman patch. Three of the four are going to engineering at the University of Nebraska this fall. One is majoring in psychology. Go Big Red.
Squirrel7
Excellent work Squirrel!!
Only 2 weeks to go! Lincoln is starting to pick up. Grand Island is still looking really slow. 0 registered so far. What's up with that? :o
Lets see if we can push GI a little harder. Anyone have some ideas?
Nice work Squirrel! O0 That's one winner. Who's going to be the next one to meet my challenge of signing up 3 or more?
Ok Cornhuskers...
There are 3 Missouri Red Hats coming to help instruct at Grand Island in a couple weeks.
Total preregs for this event? Zero, Nada, Zip. Are you kidding me?
While we always enjoy the opportunity to actually get to do some shooting ourselves, this is just not acceptable. We are leaving our wives and families behind to help you guys out.
Let's go Nebraska! I have been looking forward to coming up there all year, and I finally get to do so. Please don't leave us and your state hanging.

Who's the contact at the GI range? Can anyone verify that there are fliers/notices posted at the club? Those club members who don't have to travel far should be the easiest people to recruit.
I have spoke with Dave Phelps. He is the guy who made Appleseed happen at GI. He says he has posted fliers around. I have not been in GI for a few months. I don't know first hand. I just sent another email to him and Bill Starkey the Park Pres. I hope to hear from them soon.
Appleseed seems to be a hard sell to people around here. Its too bad. Shouldn't have to sell this program.
Frustrated!
I went for a drive Sunday and posted some fliers. Hit gun and pawn shops in Hastings, Grand Island, and Kearney. A few filling stations too. I have a guy checking on Cabela's in Kearney to see if they will put one on there gun counter. Wilson Automotive in Minden will also have them posted with in 24hr. The Broken Bow Crew is working on promo around there. Hope it helps. Nothing was posted anywere I went.
And that's why we call him State Coordinator! Nice work Gibbs. O0
Gibbs,
Looks like your efforts paid off a bit. We are now up to 4 whole shooters! Much better than zero, but considering the number of instructors we have, we still have a ways to go to fill up that line!
Come on Cornhuskers! I am missing Father's Day with my girls for this...
Greg
I am attending the Lincoln, NE Appleseed event tomorrow and am concerned that I have overlooked something. The flyer notes "There is a host range fee of $10 per day." Does this mean that I have to pay the Izaak Walton League $10 dollars cash for each day that I attend?

Yes. The range will collect a $10/day range fee from non-members for the Appleseed event. See you tomororw morning... and bring your rain gear, because it looks like we may get some liquid sunshine! ;D
Wow, I should have expected that from the Izaak Walton League. Both my club (Weeping Water Gun Club) and Eastern Nebraska Gun Club don't treat our guests that way. Oh well.
Let's not bad mouth ranges. Ikes was good enough to agree to host an Appleseed shoot and several of their members have been very helpful and extremely enthusiastic throughout the setup process. Speaking of Weeping Water Gun Club.... since you're a member let's talk this weekend about what we need to do to get an Appleseed scheduled down there! O0
I will be in Weeping Water 27th for a High Power Match. I could bring some Appleseed stuff along to speak to your guys about hosting a shoot. If you think they would be interested just send me some contact info. I'll flag them down while I'm there.
This post may be in the wrong listing. However I attended the Lincoln shoot at Izzac Walton this last weekend and brought a friend, who is more like a brother. We found that there were two additional Iowegians attending. Maybe that was to welcome the Huskers to the Big Ten. Tough the weather wasn't . The perfect the event was one of the most enjoyable I have participated in. The instructors were professional, you could here and sense .the conviction to the cause/program in their words. They embraced the students/attendents as members of a family whose mantra was liberty. Thanks to Zombie Hunter and his crew for a incredible event and for putting up for dumb questions from an old guy. I'll be back to work on earning that patch.
Thanks for coming out DMP. Glad you enjoyed last weekend, and I'm looking forward to you and your "old guy dumb questions" **) at the next shoot. Oh, and Cowboy, there's a brief AAR with some pics over here: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=14348.
