Does anybody know if there is a company that currently manufactures a gas-piston driven complete AR upper or an AR rifle system chambered in 6.8 SPC Remington? I know that quite a few companies now make gas-pistons for 5.56x45 (NATO)/.223 cartridges, but I haven't found one in 6.8. :sos:
Does anyone have any information on who, when and where one can purchase these?

CMMG offers complete rifles and parts. Addax, POF, and Noveske do the same as do others. http://www.68forums.com/forums/index.php is a good source for information.
FWIW, I began pursuing the 6.8SPC early this year and opted not to, mostly due to needing to add a couple of key pieces. The 6.8 is a nice round, but it's certainly not cheap, even when reloading.
Good luck!
ARPerformance can provide a drop on upper all set up and ready to. i shot my 6.8 at the last AS i was at. really a great round. accurate consistant and predictable even at distance.
Shoot me a PM - I've got some reservations that you may want to hear about ;)
Thanks guys, and thank you Jeep, for letting me know your reservations on the gas-piston system in AR's. 8)
I imagine jeep's reservations are regarding an upper that is piston driven being put on a typical AR lower? Definitely something to worry about due to bolt tilt.
But now there are several piston driven options that were designed for it from the ground up rather than force fitting a piston upper on a typical lower.
I have three words for you, my friend:
X! C! R! (and they have a 6.8 variant.)
:)
Yeah, I know, I'd LOVE to buy an XCR, but I that's not exactly within my budget right now. :-\ Yours did shoot purty sweet! :~ Thanks MeanStreaker! ;)

More or less - a little bit about a hard-to-find caliber and caliber specific mags that are spotty in quality and availability, both in a non-modular platform. Didn't really want to derail with my list of reasonings :)
Maybe next year I'll have an ACR and we can compare 'em ;)
not sure where your getting your 6.8 info from. Mags are cheap and easy to find. ammo is not cheap but good ammo is not cheap. there is no budget grade anything in 6.8. that makes it a caliber thats not so friendly to the wallet BUT the performance increase as well as the accuracy increase are worth it to me. my upper will shoot ANY load i have shot through it under or at 1 moa from a bench. it runs 100% as long as i keep up on lube.
i do agree about carrier tilt being an issue. the way to avoid this is to have an upper built as a piston upper VS converting a DI to piston. there are plenty of good working piston uppers out there. heck the south Vietnamese(SP?) have been running piston AR's since the 70's. it is hardly a "new" concept.
And this is why I discussed the relevant points in private messages, coming from a dumb trigger puller, mechanical engineering/research development, small time gunsmith, and firearm salesman.
They are reservations from my personal experiences - much like how myself and multiple Iraq serviceman and I disagree about the M4 series of carbines, because I don't make my selections based upon environments that I will never find myself in. Every single firearm is a compromise for different situations, you just have to decide which parts you'll compromise on.
Lewis Machine and Tool makes their monolithic rail piston uppers in 6.8 as well as 5.56.
