This was Deming, NM's second AS shoot.
I want to thank Rick and Terry Reese once again, of New Deal Sports, for hosting this shoot at their private range.
They are the biggest little gun shop in the Southwest.
And yes they carry a full compliment of MBR's you can "test drive" before you shoot. How cool is that!
Their store and range lie at the base of the Florida Mountains.
As a side note, these rugged peaks are home to trophy sized Persian Ibex, a prized NM game animal.

The borderland region of NM is beautiful, rugged and remote. The main road from Deming literally ends at the international border.

With it's vast prairie tracts and rugged mountains, firearms ownership in NM has always been important.
As late as 1916, just down the road from the NDS range, the people of Columbus, NM had to repel an attack by Poncho Villa.
Thus the necessity of firearms ownership in NM is historically well established and for the most part unrestricted.
However, today, a fantastic group of new shooters will honor another group of Americans, our founders.
Rugged, virtuous individuals who birthed this great Nation on April 19, 1775. They also knew how important marksmanship was.
Before the shooters arrive, the flags get secured for the anticipated winds.
The flags have an added bonus of shade protection around the covered area.

Lunch time history. As the winds pick up, so does the intensity of events on Battle Road, April 19th, 1775.

BlueFeather asks the question, "In an era of cell phones and internet how many people could you muster up in a few hours"? On April 19th 1775, 14, 000 people showed up to defend Lady Liberty because the measure of the value of their liberty was determined by that same willingness to show up.
Many paid the ultimate price and others lost their assets.
