Alright Minnesotans,

I've taken the luxory of starting a multi-shoot flyer, including all Appleseeds in the surrounding states.

Please take a look at it.  Let me know if anything is off and/or missing.

I like it - am going to get a batch printed and spread out far and wide.  (Wonder how theyd look on  parchment-style paper..   8)

Do you have it in a format which can be edited?  I'd like to use this for FL/GA shoots (esp. the April 17,18 shoots).

SKS,
 Look at this thread    http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=3131.0

It has our last years flier as well as the "neighboring flier" attached to my post #7.  The shoot fliers are in "word" so you can modify to your hearts content.
There are also a bunch of handouts attached you can use at gun shows / shoots

Stole this trifold from the Indiana folks.

I have edited it for Minnesota.

It's attached.

Now that's dedication!
Whisker hosts our instructor meeting-say goodbye to him around 16:00.
After that he makes a mad-dash to Indiana, steals these tri-folds, edits them for our purposes, and gets them up on the forum to us by 21:30!

Let's get these going!

Kyle,

We should start a separate thread, devoted to press releases/submitted articles.
It'll keep the clutter down a bit.

Alex

By the way; we currently have 17 shoots on the schedule!
SEVENTEEN!!!
Can you believe it?  Look at how far we've come!
Minnesota came on board in 2008:  We had ONE shoot...
The following year; we hit the Trail with FIVE...
Now, here we are.
As we embark upon the beginning of this campaign; in the year Two-thousand Ten, Annos Domini; we have SEVENTEEN Appleseeds already on the schedule!
1-5-17-Infinity
See you this weekend!

Considering the fact that most my flyers are now obsolete....  I'd better get to work on them... :wall:

Thanks for the heads up DeanC. I shot the guy a PM with an offer for both. Will see if he accepts. Would be some good "loaners" after the tech sites are installed.

Of course I will do a mag release and bolt catch modification. May also do a trigger mod, depending on the pull weight. Simple to cut that appx. weight from 7>8lbs to about 4lbs. Still nice and safe  for field use, but helps to not pull sights off the Redcoats.

Appears I am too late...negotiations in place from a PM this morning on the 10/22. Confusing listing tho. He lists a Ruger 10/22 for $150.00 and 4 posts later he says a walnut 10/22 for $175.00/ To me it reads like 2 separate rifles. Made an offer for both, and he PM'd me saying only one for sale.

Oh well, not for lack of trying.

I think he listed it at $175 then dropped the price when he had no takers.
Title: Fish hooked...just got to reel 'em in
Post by: sparks1 on May 19, 2010, 07:24:32 PM
Went to my 22nd annual  shoot last weekend. I usually do bench shooting as do all the other guys. Stuff like eggs at 150yds and clay pigeons set in the gravel pit bank.
This year we had a steel plate 15"x10" at 150 yds hanging from a tripod. As the others set up their bench stuff, I got my mat out and did some position shooting from prone, sitting, and offhand. Using my AR carbine and iron sights I was hitting clay pigeons ( 100yds set in the dirt, not on the fly) from prone and was hitting with regularity. From offhand I was hitting the steel 6 to 7 times out of 10. I can use the practice, as I did not do as well as I thought I should.
A couple of the younger fellas went "WOW, how do you do that?"  "One word, I said...Appleseed." Mostly the response was "Huh." But as I explained Fundamental marksmanship we teach at Appleseed they began to get it. As I demonstrated some of the SHF's and 6 points to firing the shot, I think I have some future Appleseeders.
So some time in the near future I believe I will have a couple of them at a Mn. Appleseed. You know , I could have talked myself blue in the face about  Appleseed, but them seeing results from the marksmanship we teach meant alot more to them. I also offered them a Redcoat at 25m to try. They laughed when they saw it, 'cos ANYONE can hit all those at that range. From the prone NONE had all 3 in any but the 100yd target, and none in the 300,400 or the bucket shot. More incentive to come to an Appleseed, I said.
Now I'm goin' fishin for some shooters...

Clay pigeon@100yrds=4moa
Steel plate 15"x10"@150yrds=10moa x 7moa....  Or a 30"x20" target at 300 yards.  Not bad for off-hand. O0

We have 10,000 lakes and how many fish?
When we have 10,000 Appleseeds; how many Appleseeders will we have?

Appleseed not only gives you a fish; it teaches you how to fish.

Good job Sparks!

I must admit to doing alot of bench shooting before attending an Appleseed last year. The fundamentals taught brought me around to the fact that I needed more of a challenge with shooting. This style shooting tests the man (gender unspecific!!) Bench tests the rifle, and I can do just so much load testing at the bench.

Hurray for Appleseed!!! Gives me a greater appreciation of my favorite sport AND took me into a deeper understanding of the sacrifices our founders gave so we can enjoy the liberty this great nation affords. Why else would millions of immigrants give up their home land and families to come here?

Just finished my first read of Paul Reveres Ride. Alot more background given vs "the Minutemen" by Gavin. Facts were the same but I enjoyed the in depth history given in "the Ride". Going to let it sink in , and then reread it. (over and over)

Title: Trying to sell a single-shot 22lr locally
Post by: DeanC on June 09, 2010, 02:29:21 PM
My gun guru has a Remington Model 41 Targetmaster he is trying sell.

It's not worth it to post it nationally because the shipping and transfer fees would be too expensive for this sort of gun.

Full disclosure: this is an adult sized gun. Cutting it down might be a sin because it is somewhat collectible. It also operates like a Cricket where you have to pull a cocking knob to ready it for firing. That is primarily why he is selling it; because the kids who come to our firearm safety classes have a hard time operating it.

He's asking $75 firm.

If I don't know you, I'd like to see your current MN Permit to Purchase or Permit to Carry.

Title: I'm behind the ball on this.... But, GO VOTE!!!
Post by: AFTERMATH on August 10, 2010, 07:50:03 PM
How many of you find yourself at the polls, on the first Tuesday in November, faced with the difficult position on which canidate to vote for? How many amongst you, find that you're stuck voting for the lesser of the two evils? Well, why is that? Is it because you didn...'t vote in the primary elections? Minnesota primaries are today!
Go vote! I believe polls close at 20:00, so you still have time.
Voting in the primaries is great because you have the opportunity to vote for the lesser of three(often more) evils!

OK, we've been given the green light. There will be a a table for us at the ZVAC show at the Fairgrounds. KMK and I will be there for set-up Friday evening. Doors open to the public at 9:00 am Sat.

Dragonfly has borrower his AS banner for us to use. (Thanks DF!) We'll also have brochures, handouts, and some targets to give away. A future Appleseed notification sign-up sheet will also qualify folks for a few door prizes. A couple LTRs and an M1 for show. We're going to try to have a video slideshow on a laptop if our table location has access to electricity.

We need some volunteers to hang out at the table and talk to shooters. If you have some time this weekend, please respond here or send a PM to KMK, AFTERMATH, or vmt193 and let us know.

Post by: martin on October 11, 2010, 12:33:02 PM

Hi everyone,,, we have a shoot scheduled for October 16Th and 17Th at Niagara Wisconsin and still don't have any instructors signed up. Niagara is near Iron Mountain Michigan and is a private range owned by Bedford. Dragonfly and I were there earlier this year and had very enthusiastic students for both the marksmanship and history. I haven't seen the sign-up sheets yet but it appears this event will be sold out for Saturday. Soooo,,,,,if you can only make it for Saturday, it would be appreciated but the whole weekend would be great.
The range is already set-up and Bedford's hospitality is hard to beat. Can you give us a hand?
   Thanks
    Martin

I just talked to Martin on this one...AND I see there are 26 views on the subject. Martin NEEDS some OH and RH to stretch a bit and give a hand for this shoot. He says last time there were 15 shooters and only he and DFly. Aftewards he thought they did not give proper attention to the shooters 'cos the ratio (Shooter to instructor) was way off. It would be better with at least 3 instructors. As you know the LB needs to focus on the line and not  instruction, so now you see the need for instructors.

This one is a big stretch for me right now, considering.

So I ask for AS sake, and to repay Wi. for manning our shoots while we get our state going...can someone step up and do Niagra with Martin and Jo ?

ANYONE???
