Title: CT PO's NEED AS
Post by: vernic82 on April 04, 2010, 11:56:11 AM
Hi guys,

Through my wife's family (Irish Cop family) and my firearms sales business I have many family and customers who are Peace Officers in CT.

One common issue I hear from them lately is with the budget issue all State & Local governments are having;one could argue the heck outta this & I'd be at the forefront of why it shouldn't be !@#)

But I digress;

What I hear from them is the fact that range time/training/ammo is costly to the Departments, little or NO (yes NO) live fire training is happening right now for sworn Peace Officers.

I had a CT State Policeman purchase a 22 pistol yesterday because, "....I need to shoot more as they will not give us range time and ammo...."

He & I are working on his Sgt. Resident Trooper to allow all his men (they have 4 Staties & 3 part time Town Cops) to attend on their budget - a cost that is much less then department training.

I have two brothers-in-law who are both Town officers who are attending AS's in the future for the same reason the Statie stated above!

Interestingly, both of their Chief's have allowed them the use their Department issue semi-auto M4's and issue ammo, saying this was a cheap way from them to keep up their training with little expense to the Town.

I feel this could/should be an opportunity for more Peace Officers to attend AS as we really can assist them in the difficult job they're asked to do.

So if you know/like/related to or any other was are associated with a sworn Peace Officer get them to an AS - and if you know a Chief or some other high up Police rank, selling AS as a cost savings training program may be the approach to take. ..:..
