Wow, that's an amazing offer. I was at the Feb IBC and I have to say that the food that Nurse Ratchett and company made for that IBC was some of the best that I have had in recent memory. It is really, really good.
Now if we could just get them to cater for Virginia... ;D
JMD,
You are too kind!!! You know you are always welcome in Athens anytime, just come on over---you can kidnap VAShooter too---hehe. Catering Va, Frogger is always up for a challenge and I would just have to help out ;)
I think Frogger forgot to mention the desserts but there will be sweets. She is always full of surprises!!
Everyone find a range near you April 17-19 and help ring those Liberty Bells---Happy 'seeding everyone!
In His Grip,
Ratchett
Is it possible to have this information added to the EIP page? If so that might go a long way in letting people know. If it is possible whom shall I/Nurse Ratchett contact?
Thanks
DryFire
DF,
I believe SavageShootr would be the person to contact. I do not know if it is possible for April but we can try O0
See you in a couple weeks ..:.. ^:)^ ..:..

Add me to that catering list too. I'll be in Carrollton, KY, that weekend but I sure do wish I was going to be there in Athens with you guys. Man I'm missing out! :'(
Well, I'm glad to know...just might take advantage of some of this great sounding grub!! I know two other individuals who are registered for this shoot, and will pass on the info.
I thought I heard that we could camp at the Athens location...can I get that confirmed?
Para,
That is correct there is camping at the Athens event O0 You can see here for a bit more info.

This year Athen's Fish and Game has decided to put in place a $10 a site fee for the weekend. This is to help them recover their costs for water, sewer, paper products, etc. that the campers use during the course of the weekend. No matter what it is way cheaper than any State Park campground and if you come out Fri. night it is less than $5 a night. We love to encourage attendees to come on out and camp simply so you can get to know us, pick our brains about the history, and just have fun. See you in less than 2 weeks!!

It all sounds good but I am not going be there :wb:
I really would like to go but I am going to a shoot in New Phila they have long range lol ;)
Hope you have fun and have a good shoot.

Figures...seems like the "we just started charging for that" thing happens to me all the time. Are we talking about $10 per person, or per tent? Wish I could be there Friday night, but my son is in a play that evening and my mom is coming down for the weekend (yes I'm bailing on mom for the AS shoot :() I really just wanted a FREE place to sleep Saturday night, so I didn't have to drive back to Newark. I was thinking when I first started checking into the Athens shoots (before the IBC in Feb) I remember someone saying it was free to camp.
My cousin and I are driving down together and were going to camp to save time and $$. If its gonna cost $20 for the two of us to sleep in our tent Saturday night... ++)
Hey para, it is $10 per camping spot for the entire weekend.
That small sum goes to benefit their Camp Heritage Youth program and is a small way for us to thank the Athens Fish and Game Club for their enormous generosity in allowing us to hold our events and use their incredible facilities all of these weekends. :) No place else that I know of takes as good of care of their Appleseeders as Athens does. We're lucky to have all of our ranges just donate the use of their backstop. Athens goes way above and beyond with their three restroom facilities, beautiful clubhouse, and hard-working volunteers that keep everyone very comfortable. More comfortable than we deserve. :)
Yeah MS...I guess it does say "site fee" in DryFire's post. Still a bummer finding out you have to pay for something when ya thought you didn't... ::)
I'm used to camping in National Forest type areas, and typically "self contained" as far as that goes. Pretty used to just needing the turf under my tent so to speak. I gotta pinch my pennies being a stay at home dad :cool2: and Knob Creek is the weekend between now and then. I'm not exactly going to be "flush" coming to Athens. Got lots of sundries to pick up at the Creek ;) Still...I guess we can afford a 5 spot each on the camping...not a bad price for good company ;D
Hi Everyone!
It is final muster night before our Patriot's Day Celebration, do not forget to check in on the Ohio board as well as tune into Scout on The Rifleman Radio Show.
If any Athens participants would please send a PM to Frogger or myself regarding meals you are interested in partaking, it would be a big help. We didn' t realize how helpful this was until one family did send us a message. We never lack for food in Athens, but pre-planning is always a good thing O0 Remember this isn' t a mandatory thing, just something helpful for Frogger.
Can't wait to see old friends and meet new ones!!! Travel safe everyone which ever shoot you are going. Happy seeding and let the Liberty Bell ring ^:)^

Ratchett
Hi Everyone!!
Well we are about 33 hours (EST) out from one awesome Appleseed weekend nationwide. I hope everyone is as pumped as I am. Approximately 2400 shooters on the line plus all the volunteers and instructors working to restore Rifle Marksmanship across this great nation AND paying tribute to our forefathers who made it all possible. We are a blessed nation, it is up to all of us to continue for our future generations!!!
I have received some questions regarding Athens, so I am gonna try to answer all here.
1.) Kitchen will be closed except to cooks for the weekend.
2.) Campfire is one large fire in fire ring only. Also need to have shovels and at least one bucket of water at fire site. (From AF&G board of director)
3.) Camping fee is $10/ per site for whole weekend--indoor bathrooms with showers included :D
4.) Breakfast will be at 7AM and registration will begin then until 8:15 or so---we want to be ready to go at 8:30.
5.) Remember LEAVE RIFLES IN CAR UNTIL AFTER SAFETY BRIEFING Instructors will tell you when it is ok to retrieve rifles from vehicles.
6.) ALL ranges other than the Appleseed range will be closed from 8PM Friday 4-16 to 8PM Sunday 4-18.
7.) Sunday morning services will be at 7AM for anyone who would like to participate. Breakfast will be available at same time, we just ask that movement about be kept to a minimum. (Courtesy to our Lay-speaker)
8.) MANDATORY: HAVE FUN AND BE SAFE!!!!
Travel safe, see y'all soon!
In His Grip,
Ratchett

You mean you wouldn't buy food for them, dear bro-in-law??? 8)
Man...wish I could make it down for this one! Was gonna try and be there Sunday at least...but that has been taken up by more Scouting activities. Have to devote the entire weekend to my scout troop (without the joy of a campout :(). Still good stuff all around, have to figure out another Athens shoot to attend ;)
P.S. Any Scouts out there unaware...this weekends "Adventure Base" activity at the Columbus Zoo meets the most difficult to complete requirement for the limited time only Scouting Heritage merit badge available for the 100yr anniversary. If anyone needs details...PM me :D
