Title: Ruger Mini-30---311 or 308 barrel
Post by: Determined451 on March 25, 2010, 12:52:04 PM
O.K.  I got into this discussion.  it is MY undersanding that the Ruger Mini 30 barrels are .308 in diameter, instead of .311,like the AK's, and SKS, but you can shoot .311(foreign) ammo in them.

What say ye, with proof to back it up?  D-451

American Rifleman, July 1999:

The bore of the Mini-30 is .308, but there is a long tapered throat which allows a fairly easy transition of a .311 bullet into the .308 bore. Therefore, both kinds of ammo can be used in it.
