Title: Virtual Muster Night 2 - Promotions update
Post by: Hoover on March 16, 2010, 09:26:25 PM
Hi All,

I'll hope to bring you up to speed more often as various news regarding promotions unfolds.  I'll start off with just a few of things that I know about that have happened fairly recently:

1) We have a new state newsletter.  Many kudos for everyone that helped put this together.  I hope that you not only find it interesting but will offer suggestions on new topics and ways to improve.  We see this as a way to increase outreach to people that may not always be plugged in.

2) Various new promotions assets.  Continue to make updates to the state flyer.  I've had 1000 copies made to get us through these early months. Some have been mailed out, but more remain.  If you need some--LET ME KNOW!!.  I also have article reprints that are available.  Also, added additional resources to the Ohio Promotions thread--please check this out if you haven't already.

3) Ordered two additional vertical banners.  You can take a look at the design here (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=12260.0).  The idea is that we'll rotate them through events and gun shows as we staff them.

4) Began initial discussions with Buckeye Firearms Association toward cross-promoting.  You've probably seen a couple of posts from para45acp on this thread.  Please extend him a warm welcome as he is our primary liason with BFA.  I see a number of opportunities to work with them and expect to see similar benefits that we have already seen w/ our relationship with OFCC.  para45acp--please feel free to respond w/ any additional updates as you might think of them.  We'll be looking forward to seeing para45acp and another key BFA member at the 17 Apr Athens event!

5) ButtStock's mom (whose nickname is still being contemplated :)) has been doing lots of work up at Gibsonburg to get the word out.  I'm amazed at the energy being applied and look forward to the results.  I'll not spoil the details and let her provide updates when she's ready.

And, coming up fairly soon, Posterboy is leading the charge with a gun-show in early April.  I'll hope to get one of these new banners in his hands by that time.

There's plenty of other ideas "in the hopper" and hopefully, you'll see more activity in the new future.  In the mean-time, please speak-up and comment about any ideas that you have--either here in this thread or PM me directly.

Hoover I know MS and I were talking earlier and thought that a newsletter focusing on the kids might be a good one down the road. I know there is the write up I did about why parents should bring their kids to an AS and then Leah of the Richardson clan did a wonderfull write up on her "persistance patch". Just an idea on topics.

DryFire--that's a great idea.  I definitely liked your letter a lot--as it inspired the "Appleseed Kids" flyer/poster that I did and that is now on the Ohio Promo thread.  Probably, the next issue (April) will feature Gibsonburg.  But, we might either consider working that in or definitely get it in for the very next one.  Hopefully, I can twist your arm to assist in either writing or reviewing?

On a related note, the newsletter will soon feature a section called "Know the Hat" where we'll try to feature a different instructor each issue.

Sounds good Hoover, we have got to get that Gibsonburg line Sold Out. Wouldn't that be awesome, talk about a need for LSOs under the RSO.  :~

Not sure if I'm allowed to say this, but I'm going to anyway.   ;D

I just forwarded a PM from Fred to Hoover and Posterboy about getting Appleseed billboards set up in Ohio.   O0

Ok, Butt Stock's mom here. Gregg you have told what I am working on....
1. I have made contact with Cumulus Radio here in the Toledo area. I was shooting for a live radio remote, and with any luck will get one later on down the road. What I have gotten from them is this : They are starting to run an ad for AS on the radio. I have not yet heard it all the way through yet, I did catch the tail end of "for more info visit appleseedinfo.org " and they are going to be putting something on their web sites.

Here is the last email I received from our contact with them: No problem!  Yes I'll get it on all our stations.

Subject: RE: Event info Appleseed Fliers

Thank you very much!!! It is greatly appreciated. Would be great if you could
send the link so it could be posted on our forum for others to see as well. Are
you going to put it on all the cumulus stations ?

2. I have made contact with one of the local weekly papers. We are going to have something written up and put in The Press. Mark Griffin is a free lance writer for The Press. If I am understanding him correctly he is going to be doing a before and after article. Once it is written and published I will make sure that the link to the on line article is available.

Once I have all this down and my grin wiped off my face I will start working on the other local papers in our area. :)

3. All lunches for the Gibsonburg Shoots will be made available to the Instructors AND shooters.

Thanks Gregg and PB for the help and guidance you have given and to Gordon for helping me coordinate with the others who I am working with to make it possible to do the lunches....

There are a few more things being discussed and we are attempting to work out those details, when they are completed we will let it be known.

Lisa, Butt Stock's mom

Promotional materials received from Mr. Hoover this week. Gave out the first info to one of my students yesterday (one on one class). Should have literature into our gun show organizers hands this weekend. I also posted a link in the "general chat" on BFA's forums. If any of you can take a moment and pop in over there...keep that post at the top for a while  :D

Here is a link if you don't already have us in your favorites  ;)

I also plan on presenting this at my District Round Table meeting next month. I know several Scout units that would be into this  O0
