There is value to be found here but the 500m fight by precision round placement for every soldier (not just designated marksmen and snipers) is missing. I am also dissatisfied with the lack of a holistic understanding of bringing all the elements together cohesively.
Comments are welcome.
Well, you will be more disappointed to learn that is is BRM from an advanced school. Regular joe doesn't see this. But we are working the answer (AS) in everywhere. My guys average a 3 MOA group and are hitting 90% of targets at 500. Using Appleseed. not the Army's current program.
Just remember folks.
That is Our Army.
Guide them we should,
Teach them we must,
but we cannot afford to
criticize their methods or
equipment too strongly because
WE are the ones that permit it
to become what it is.
The US military is a DIRECT REFLECTION
of our society.
We let it get that way.
we can bring it back to where it needs to be
Just another part of government that is
OUR are responsibility to make right.
SamD,
thank you, nice post.
Support them we must and change the conditions they protect us in.
Those power point slides are from the Army Marksmanship Unit. Collectively they are the greatest group of shooters in the world, hands down. As a graduate of all the shooting schools they offer I can say this. They are amazing shooters, the absolute best, but when it comes to teaching shooting, they suck. I was very disappointed at the way they taught the fundamentals at their schools, with some of the same presentations you posted. Thats were Appleseed comes in and why I introduced it to the military and incorporated it every chance I have gotten. No school or course I have attended (military or civilian) teaches the basics and pushes you to master them as well as Appleseed. Without learning and mastering the basics you are just wasting ammunition and time. As a civilian that just gets expensive. In the military that can be absolutely fatal. Appleseed teaches the basics/fundamentals the best that I have seen so far. And Appleseed also teaches the history of our nation and its founders, something every soldier (and civilian) needs to learn or be reminded of. Its a reminder of what they are fighting for and the cost of freedom we all take for granted. The military needs Appleseed. I am so incredibly proud of the contribution Appleseed and its instructors have made to our military and our country.
I don't think we ever properly thanked Boltgun for getting the Appleseed foot in the door so I'll do it now
Thank you Boltgun
It growing friend, it's growing.

I'm probably not this the first to know this, but when I was in Army basic training in 1981 with M16-A1's we did not learn as much as I did in Appleseed. We shot foxhole supported, prone supported and prone unsupported and sling use was not taught. I was a helicopter crew chief but got to train with the 19D's (Cav Scouts) in my unit and none of them were taught this either. Anyway, if what we teach brings one silly, immortal, 19yr old kid back alive (I'm talking about myself, back then), it is worth it. I don't think you can have enough Guardian Angels. My $.02.
Boltgun,
I'll second Sam's thank you. This fire is lit.

The efforts of both the SCNG and the WSMR crews are blazing the way. You guys are bringing Rifleman back to the military.
