Title: 7.62 Port. @ Samco $350
Post by: bedford on March 08, 2010, 10:56:38 PM
I noticed that Samco has dropped its price from $500 to $350 per k on the surplus Port. : http://www.samcoglobal.com/Ammo-nato.html

I hope the prices will be coming down further in the near future........
- but if you need ammo this is the best price I have seen in a long time.

I see the beginnings of an Appleseed supply chain.  If anyone in florida can pick some up and move them to neighboring states and pass it on?  Eventually it will end up in the mid west, right?

Yeah, but it might get "taxed" along the way.   :~

I'd rather keep the taxes 'in the family' than not

Oh man, I just bought a case a couple weeks ago at the gun show when it was $500!  I guess I'll have to buy more to partially offset the cost!

A few observations here:

Re: shipping.  Check to see what the differences are for 1/2 Case v. Full Cases v. Multiple Cases.  Once you get past the various UPS (or equal) 'Hazard Penalties' the price should level out.

Re: taxable item.  That would depend on your state having abrogated its sovereignty in part, and joined with other states taxable sales reporting.  Check the ad, usually it will state what States have to pay Sales Taxes, if your state isn't mentioned- you've generally got it made.

Re: prices coming down.  The good ol' days of cheap ammo are gone.  Like the last price increases of the late 90s & early 00s, you are going to see the costs of metals, and chemicals showing up.  Plus a bit of greed!  >:(

Best thing to do is to buy as much as you and your buddies can afford, when the calibers looked for/needed are offered.

Random thoughts,

Tom

P.S. I'm not associated with Samco, or any other wholesaler/retailer.  The above is based on having owned a shop, and trigger squeezin' for 50+ years.

Dang it boy  you make me laught! **) ;D ;D

No such thing as cheap freight.  I suppose a guy could to run down to FL with a chevy pickup
and haul back a mother load  and cache it to those in need along the way eh?
2000 miles on a tank of diesel would cost a pretty penny .

*ammo may be slightly corroded and they require a good bit of paperwork (Samco Global) Caveat Emptor.

I'm new to the 7.62/M1A arena, so here's a question.
  How's the quality/performance of this?

Thanks

ps
AIM also has SA 7.62 for $69/140rds.
