The Fountain AS went off as planned. There were about six shooters Saturday. We worked the course of instruction and shooters progressed. The IITs, Pete, Jim, Bob and Rich did a fine job teaching and telling history. Thanks guys for being well prepared. Thanks also to Long Rifle who guided the course of instruction keeping everyone on track. Appreciate your high degree of organization and the new red hat.
Facilities at the Frontier Sportsmans Club were great. This is the most remote range I have seen yet.
All but one of our shooters were Saturday only so we cut the instructor staff for Sunday. More on those events by someone who was there.
Best thing-Shooters all got better, equipment failures were handled on site, we had a safe shoot. Shep got an honorable mention for his intensity, willingness, and overall great attitude. This 10yo kid is fun to be around and an inspiration.
Worst thing- Not enought shooters. Got to get the word out. Working on that for the April shoot.
All for now, Mike
Thanks everyone for a great shoot. Shep had a wonderfull time, told me it was his best day ever! That is pretty substantial coming from a 9 (almost 10, just ask him) year old.
I also appreciate being able to take a slot on the line and knock off some of those cob webs.
Particular thanks to Rich for taking good care of the boy.
I had a great time at the shoot...
I don't think I heard Shep complain once on Saturday...
But I was whining most of the time!! - It's cold, I'm old, I'm hungry, I'm thirsty!!!
:D
You seem to have a great kid Eric -
Good to shoot with you Shep - hope to see ya both next time.
Cort came back on Sunday and we did some AQT's, then off to the 200-300 yard range. He wanted to zero his .300 Win Mag bolt rifle. He went to prone and did some very good shooting - at least one 3-shot group under 1 MOA at 200, and the rest between 1 and 2 MOA! He had already been to two and a half Appleseeds and it showed.
Best of all, he decided to take the Orange Hat! We spent a considerable bit of time after the shooting talking about how best to get him up and running in time for the next Fountain shoot.
