You bet it was a great event.  We spent Saturday pounding away at the 25 yd AQT, enjoying beautiful weather and plenty of sun.  I saw lots of returning shooters from previous events.  We also had alot of instructors, red and orange caps to help us out.  Sunday it was crazy windy, we even had a flag pole go down.  Everyone's rifles were covered in dust and sand.  Those of us with centerfire rifles went over to the KD range and shot distance, up to 500 yds.  I can't wait till the March Appleseed.

Yep, another great shoot at Davilla.

Saturday started off with 15 shooters on the line.

Spmcpeek drove from Louisiana to give us Texans a hand with this Appleseed.  Thanks Steven.

We also had Lab Rat, Reliable, Tnewty who is one of our newest Orange Hats and the newest Red Hat in the State of Texas...Aromatic!! O0

That's right.  Aromatic received his Red Hat over the weekend.  Well done my friend.

The 15 shooters were a mixed group.  They consisted of young boys and girls to Alarm list males and females and everything in between.

The event started off with Spmcpeek giving the first Strike.  After the strike, we managed to get the first rounds down range just before 10 am.

By the end of the day, we did not have any Riflemen but we had improvement in marksmenship and after Aromatic's third Strike, we had some some highly motivated Americans!

Sunday came around and we had another shooter join us.  We ended up with 16 for the day.

We continued with the course.  During lunch, Reliable talked to the crowd about a very Dangerous Old Man.

After lunch, Aromatic and I took 5 shooter's to the actual distance range.  We had a good time with the shooters and it probably would have been a little more enjoyable if we did not have an almost constant wind.  Judging from small branches and paper being blown around, I think it was around 15 mph.

But what the heck! how often do you get to shoot 500 yards in 15 mph wind?

At the end of the day, we did not have any new Riflemen, but we had a lot of shooters stated how much they enjoyed the event and said they would return.

I saw a lot of cameras during the weekend, so I'm sure there will be more pic's soon.

Until next time, keep those actions clear and I'll see you on the beach.

I would like to thank Alonso1, spmcpeek, labrat, aromatic, scout, Doug, Larry and the attendees for making my first event as an IIT a memorable one.  Now if I can just get my wife, kids, the dog and chickens to think i am NOT out playing Rambo. ++)

I showed my wife spitstickler's trifold brochure and later she asks me what my plans are for their involvement...  It sounds like a start. O0

Another great shoot at Scout's place.  I really like how Texas is making an effort to get to the actual distance range every AS (or in the case of this AS, actual distance + 100m).  It is not only a treat for the shooters but also for the instructors.  Alonso1 did a great job running the shoot with Spmcpeek as SB/IT.  Visiting with the other instructors and patriots is always a great way to spend a weekend.

I also want to thank the entire Texas instructor crew for their guidance and encouragement through the IIT ranks.  I will continue to learn from all of you.
