Title: Welcome Hoover as Ohio's Promotions Coordinator
Post by: MeanStreaker on February 21, 2010, 02:47:50 PM
I'd like to welcome Hoover (very recently known as gliming)   ;)  as Ohio's Promotions Coordinator and thank him for taking on this very important task.  He's done a great job so far in putting together some Ohio specific fliers and has a lot of worthy ideas.

We were able to rely on pretty much word of mouth and Ohioans For Concealed Carry to sell out all events but Gibsonburg in 2009.  I expect that success to continue, but it might take a little elbow grease in 2010 as we more than double the number of locations and shoots.  We will want to beef up our Promotions side of the house to make it just as strong as our Instructor side so that one does not outpace the other.  It will be great to find 20 new locations with 20 new RH's, but not if only a few shooters show up.   ;D

Hoover will eventually be putting together some gun show teams, local BOTG promotion teams for each location, and I'm sure many other things that I never would have thought of.

Please join me in thanking him for spearheading this very important mission for Ohio.

    Thanks, Hoover.

And enjoy that new seat while you have it, as you may be plucked out of it on short notice, and moved up to command the nationwide promotions.

You won't have any trouble finding your new seat - it's above you, just below the clouds - not too far from Heaven... :)

Congrats!! :)

Now it's time to  ~~:) and get things going right  :D

I'm pretty new here, but ready to get my feet wet. We have been discussing Appleseed among the BFA leadership, and volunteers. I was asked to find out if there was any way we could be of help. We've got a pretty extensive volunteer network in place, and it's growing every day. Let us know what we can do for you Hoover  8)

Fantastic!  You must be a mind reader as MeanStreaker and I were just talking about my contacting BFA.  I'll send a PM your way to discuss specifics.  But, off-hand, here are some things that I'd like to see happen and just need to find out who to contact and how I can get things done:

1) Post AS event info on the BFA forums.  I'm a member and assume that I can do so.  Identifying the appropriate forum would be helpful, though.

2) Get AS event info included on the periodic BFA electronic newsletters.  I get these currently and believe that this would help reach people in ways that the forums don't.  I would be looking for approval and then need guidance on amount of space (for verbiage and, optionally, logo) that would be appropriate.

3) Provide physical promotional materials and, optionally, static displays for hand-out/distribution by volunteers.  I've been accumulating and creating a number of different flyers; so, having a discussion about which are best for what types of venues is perhaps first (we can do so via PM or phone or...).  Then, it's a matter of my either getting them physically to the appropriate person(s).

4) Opportunities for shared promotional events.  I don't always follow all the BFA events nor know which may have options for our actively participating by way of having a booth, table, etc. and either shared or separate.  We're getting geared up to be prepared for the range of staffed to unstaffed booths and to ensure that the display and content is appropriate to expected audience.  Again, this is something that we'll need to discuss more via PM, etc.

5) Other?  I've no doubt missed something.  But, I'm sure our working through some of the above will help identify any other missing opportunities not already thought of.

Thank-you for posting here.  I'm looking forward to working directly with you and the rest of BFA.

Regards,

Hoover

Great job Hoover, I look for Ohio to take off now and I will help with all I can. ;)

Well, darn it--MeanStreaker and Dinky have led me astray. :-[  As I understood it, we were all on a deferred, sliding scale--our reward "paid" through the sounds of newly tread seventh steps and the clanking of emptied buckets. :)

Thanks, Scout and everyone else who has so generously offered their help.
