As an end to a great day of Appleseed'n, we put the pink-coat soldiers on (cheap plastic) posts and I gave them two rounds. They asked "why two rounds?" I told them this guy represented something like 900+ yards, and at that distance, you'd have time to make a second shot before the first one got there. :o
The plastic army men was a huge hit with the crowd. Thanks to Big Pappa for the idea. O0
Beware tyrants, women in Alabama don't mess around!

More later....
This was a very special event. We picked up more boots on the ground as well as 2 rifle-women! It is really special to see a daddy about to cry because of pride. Well that or them just thinking of all the ammo it took to get that 3 dollar patch. :) Either way I was very proud of our ladies. ^:)^
All shooters showed marked improvement in their abilities. Thank each of you for your teachable attitude and persistence. I know this was not the best weather but you still showed up and stayed with it. To those that backed out because of the weather. !@#) ~~:) Na just kidding hope to see you at the next shoot!
To my fellow orange hat's and our shoot boss. Wow I really don't know how to say thank you enough. I am honored to be among such dedicated and patriotic friends. You can really tell the instructors care when they have to pause because they are trying not to :'(
Just proud to have been allowed to be a part of it all. Both lady Riflemen were my nieces so I am doubly proud!
Thanks to the Shoot Boss and all of the rest of the Orange hats who put up with me this weekend! I can not say thank you enough.
Dane

I had a great time of fellowship, learning, and shooting. It's great to be around so many liberty minded folks that really get this simple truth. Our freedoms don't come from government, they come from God.
From a simple economic standpoint, $70+tax for an entire weekend of instruction, in my own county is a fantastic bargain. I will definitely be back for another one.
From a shooting standpoint, I improved from shooting Heather's redcoats to shooting my own targets. Improving further, scored a 90 something on AQT #1. The next morning, it was 152. Another 60 points is a patch. I did some figuring at lunch, 42 points per stage is all you need for 210 and a rifleman patch. On my best individual stages, I shot a 46 on stage 1 and 42 on stage 4. I can do this.
Thanks again for all the help. I'll see you all again soon.
Thanks to Bama for ramrodding this shoot. Thanks to all the IIT's for their hard work and time. Thanks to all the shooters. Don't let this be your last AS. Tell your friends about the event and bring them to the next one.
I am always impressed at the dedication and perseverance of the Instructors and IIT's as well as the participants. All of the history presentations were top notch as well as the shooting instruction.
As all of the AS shoots I have attended have been wet, I am wondering if there is a rule against dry ground at an AS .(just kidding)
Cogratulations to my daughter Heather (blue sweatshirt) and neice Britt (gray sweatshirt) for achieving the coveted "Rifleman" status. Way to go both of you.
Heather scored 211 on Saturday and backed it up with a 219 on Sunday. Britt was making head shots on plastic soldiers at a simulated distance of 900 yards. Amazing shooting!!
I think the February AS shoots in Alabama should be renamed "Snow Bowl" shoots. However, the weather didn't seem to bother the "hard core" shooters that turned out, especially the two Alabama ladies that smoked the AQTs to earn their Rifleman patches.
I think it's noteworthy to comment on the excellent facilities of the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. They were gracious hosts and very accomodating to all of our needs. Many Thanks.
In my opinion the Shoot Boss and the other instructors I worked with were really top notch, and were on top of their game at all times. I certainly hope I'm able to work with them again in the future. I really enjoyed it. Thanks to all who participated.
CONGRATULATIONS to Heather and Britt!!!
Great job Bama and all the rest of the Alabama crew. O0
Thanks for posting the pics and stats.
CrankE Nice to see improvement like going from shooting someone else's target, (didn't look like Heather needed the help ;D) to some pretty good scores on your own. O0
Much thanks to all the shooters who braved the weather. It really wasn't that bad, but us Southerners are sort of distrurbed by snow. We usually put snow in the same catagory as unicorns and sasquatch; we hear people talk about 'em but aint really seen it for ourselves and aint sure if it really exists. ::)
Speaking of "hard core", Riflewoman Heather was out there all day Saturday in some sort of socks. I thought of calling this shoot Appleseed on the Eastern Front when I saw Heather's feet. Tyrants beware, if your intended victim has the last name of "Lawley", you oughtta just keep moving...
Once again there was pleasant, teachable attitudes in the crowd. It was good to see old friends and make some new ones as well. Everyone improved and hopefully walked away with a bit more understanding of how we got here and a bit of perspective of their role in this republic.
CrankE - You can and will do this. Your attitude was right before you even showed up. You make up your mind and the body will follow. Looking forward to seeing you again and meeting your son!
The IITs did a great job, and their presence gave me a lot of satisfaction, not just in the fact that I had plenty of help, but in knowing that Alabama is on the way to pulling its fair share of the Appleseed cart, and moving closer towards the ultimate goal of saving our republic from the forces of willfull ignorance and apathy!
Also, Britt Lawley announced that she wants to join the program as an orange hat! She ran the administration table for us all weekend and helped anywhere she could! O0
Hooray for Alabama!!!!
If anyone has photos of this event that they would like posted here shoot me a PM and we'll try and get it done!
