Glad to meet you. What shoots have you been to in GA?
Raymon
Hey yall.
Hey, I wanna hear more from Col Barrett about the boy scout troop that wants to host an appleseed. i think we should jump on that.

Hey Ramon,
I have not attended any shoots as of yet. I have been in Georgia just over a year now. Frank Tobia in WV turned me on to what you guys are up to and about. I am stoked about hooking up with ya'll

Hey ARJIS,
Glad to meet you. What shoots have you been to in GA?
Raymon
I agree. I would like to help do that. It would really have to be a mini though. the boy scout have different rules about rifles though. We would have to check on that.
raymon
ARJIS--keep watching the PMs here, I think you will have incoming from Flathead. (Shoot Boss in Toccoa.)
What area GA are you?
Don Pablo--welcome. What area are you in?
SoM
Sanderman, Why would it have to be a mini?
ARJIS, have you been to any Appleseeds elsewhere?
Don Pablo, how about you?
Hey ARJIS,
Well welcome come joins us whenever you can. We are gonna have at least 8 shoots this year and we are working on more. Where are you in GA?
Raymon
Hey J,
It could be a full weekend, but might be easier for doing a mini for a day or a 2 day mini. They could always come to a AS. What do you think
Raymon
I'd be open to either I guess. They'd probably ask us to help out at one of their summer camps down my way, actually. I'd like that :)
I just think the BSA is a perfect fit for Appleseed. They may require us to be NRA certified, though. Do we have any?
As far as I know they are not NRA, my brother was a teacher at a summer camp. I will ask him
Dude, Sanderman, we gots to go over the COF for Hawk'ville. and everytime you see the word "SoM" strike it out!!!! That leaves alot of stuff to assign to people
Also, split up the 3 strikes? or all at once?
If they need it, we will get someone who has it. There are many AS instructors who also are NRA cert'd.
Good to see y'all on. Called Flathead, if he doesn't show up we need to give him a hard time....
SoM
that sounds good. I would like to get NRA certs just to have it. We can go over it, but have to see if anybody else signs up for SB. We should work on it anyway. I am going back and forth about the history I will think about it. What do you think?
I think we should split it up, personally. SoM can pull it off, but he's "special" :)
Hey All, Thanks, I am in Duluth Georgia..
Present, but only briefly due to workplace firewall. This site is restricted, have to check in on my break.
Ya know, I had a good history session by accident at Toccoa, where I was gonna tell the entire story up front and ran too long up front. I then split it after the second strike, and did the Paul Harvey "rest of the story" thing. Worked out really well that evening.
There is still plenty of experimenting as to how to tell the story. Just keep in mind the first objective of an Appleseed...
Welcome Troubleshooter. Where are you?
SoM
ARJIS and Troubleshooter (cool name), Try to find the "So Where is Everyone" thread here in the GA section. I can ping your town that way.
Hey, I'm sort of here. I seem to have been unable to register for the radio thing...but I listened for a while. There was Dinky on the speaker.
Signing off guys, (but will check in during LOST commercials )
..:..
glad to hear from you all. So Ron what is Appleseed's first objective? I would say to wake up our fellow Americans, I don't mind being wrong though.
That's it--to wake up the sleeping 'Murikens and encourage them to act like the Americans they should be.
Secondly is to make riflemen.
The purpose and reason for the whole program is to save the country. That means many things to people, but all paths lead in the same general direction.
This is also why we don't get wrapped around the axle "iceberg spotting"--we need people bailing instead. Or maybe a better analogy: Politics is about the weather, Appleseed is about climate change.
C.S. Lewis wrote about the "Spirit of the Age". We are doing a makeover for it...
SoM
Checking in for a sec. Gotta run. I'll catch up on tonight's goings-ons later.
Blame that "Goose" character. He invited me. ;)
Welcome all. I am so glad to hear from old friends and to meet new friends.
AndyCraig--welcome.
Goose-Yup, met him a time or two. Appleseed in action. Go thou and do likewise.
We have a country to save, and it's FUN doing it!

I bounced back onto the PC just for a sec because I had an idea- anybody interested in doing a meet-n-greet one of these days? I think I saw a map with a fair amount of folks not far from me in Roswell. Maybe get some eats and do some range time? I'm averaging range time about 1.5 times a year, which is pretty sad. Maybe Panell's in Woodstock or American Classic Marksman in Norcross? Idunno.
Of course my true love is the rifle. Maybe on a Saturday meet at a WMA range after meet-n-greet? My favorite is Wilson Shoals WMA shooting range above Gainesville.
This probably belongs in a new thread but I didn't see the option for me to post, only reply, so far. Admins- please feel free to move it as needed. Thanks!
Another thread I would start if I could- reloading. I just got started. Anybody want to swap war stories or pass along some sage advice? LOL!
OK. I really gotta go now...
Checking in from the theater watching bold fresh tour. I will find out more details about the scout thing. I think it just may be a good network of people to get involved with. We could easily reach a 1000 people between scouts and parents. Nothing has been set in stone and I know there is a lot of coordinating to be done, but I think it is an avenue to consider. Sorry I couldn't tune into the show tonight and be a bigger part of the muster, but we had commuted to this a few weeks ago with my girlfriends parents. I will try and check in laterr tonight on the forum.
Signing on....better late than never! Just got off work.
Snaphook in Woodstock
snap HOOOOK
what up brotha
Snaphook--good to see you here, thanks for joining. Told Flathead he could rely on you and Mike with the technical class at Toccoa....
Andy--PM me or Flathead about meeting at Wilson Shoals sometime, we both live in Habersham Co. Also both reloaders, could help out there.
SoM
Hey AndyCraig, et. al....re: meet 'n great. I'm a member of a shooting club out in the boonies near Jasper, up I-575. If we could make it a weekday afternoon (or maybe even Sat. afternoon, if nothing is scheduled), I would be glad to host a get together. No limits on guests, as far as I know.
I live in Woodstock.
Perhaps sandwiches, cokes, and AQTs???
Snaphook
I'm would love to have a meet n greet. I think that is a great idea. I am free for at least the next month. I was thinking about driving up to Ramsuer for the AS up there for the shoot at the end of Feb. Road Trip?
^:)^ aww, you guys can't let Andy off with a MnG...I've been selling a Toccoa AS for weeks now! Geez...but, if it gets both him and his bro', Paul, in the mix, we're building ranks. 8)
Did I see Apalacious post an inquiry about other ranges? I sent a message to SWGA range south of Albany and to a fellow I met via some equipment rental out of Bainbridge who has a few thousands acres for hunting in SW Ga...haven't heard from them. But I should do a follow up phone call. John Cofty is the hunting acreage @ mossypondfarms.com There is also a small 100yd WMA in Miller County that I mentioned to the Jolly Brothers. :D
good job goose. Keep up the good work. We all need to work on getting more shoots in GA. Way to go guys.
Raymon
I'll keep prying the scout family in my neighborhood. I've given their son, a selectee for the AF Academy, our handouts and the web link...I need to check the hook for bait I guess. I met a woman at work whose family is scout involved, so I'll go bug her tomorrow and ask about AS involvement. Seems like a perfect fit. Barrett and I have been spreadin' the word fast and furious. I got Andy and his brother Paul to register on the forum, so I feel a small success there.
Snaphook, I think we need to meet. I am in Woodstock also and would love to see if we can assist each other in our efforts to spread the word.
As for the scout thing, I have heard mixed reviews the last few years about the direction of the scouts, but I believe most of the people associated with scouts are still a crowd who may be interested. From the way my friend asked, it seems as though he was wanting me/us to go to their property. I would think it would be a typical saturday all day thing, camping that night and all day sunday. I know my friend personally owns about 40 acres in Monroe, but lives up in Hamilton Mill, so that is probably where their scout group is from. I would think between the scouts, probably 10 to 15, their brothers(possibly sisters) and dads, we might have up to 30 shooters or so. I don't think it is something that can safely be done by myself. I would have to have others for all the other roles and I am not a redhat yet, so I can't really even do something like this yet. I think once we get in the scout network, it may start to catch on and spread to other packs.
I may be the last to report on board, but I have been on board for a while. I wasn't able to log in to the broadcast, but I listened. I'm working on a venue down here in coastal Georgia, but it looks like it's not going to be easy. Better to pick the ripe fruit first, and see how this particular prospect goes. I am available to help however I am needed here in Georgia (and to an extent in Florida) and am glad to see the Georgia program beginning to grow. Bailing ain't bad work when you have good folks to work with!
