Hello Instructors!!!
I hope that you are as excited as Dinky and me for the upcoming Athens, OH IBC on Feb 13-14-15. It will be great to have everyone in one setting working together to improve the presentation skills that will save this country!
Since we are already needing to stretch capacity and we're still a month out, I need you to complete a few item below.
1) You must PM me that you are attending ASAP so we can get an accurate headcount.
2) In that PM, you must tell me where you plan to sleep. If you have a cold weather sleeping bag, you can pitch a tent near me in the section reserved for Real Riflemen outside! >:D Otherwise, let me know if you require floor space in the clubhouse or if you have other arrangements.
3) Send a PM to Nurse Ratchett (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=5561) with a food dish, drinks, plastic plates/silverware, etc that you can bring to share with everyone. We will need breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and maybe a cookie or two, Ishy) O0 for 20+ people.
4) Print out the current Instructor Manual that is attached to this post and bring that along with a notebook, pen, and a sense of humor that will help us enjoy three full days of learning amongst our fellow Instructors.
Thanks very much and I can't wait to see you there!!!
Here is what I have so far for attendance. If your name is not on this list, please PM me and I will continually update this. Thanks!

Meanstreaker,
I know coming off that huge IL IBC you want to get the numbers up but, listing Fuzzy Math twice falls into a "grey area" ;D **)
G69 and I are trying to arrange getting down there for Sat. or Sun. I'm trying to get G69 to give me a lift down there. Ohhhhh, wait, maybe I'll drive ^-^ Ol' red was lookin a bit tired this weekend. Can't tell my truck Garand will be riding in it just yet......y'all know what happened last time he tried that :'(
I'll advise when more gets finalized. A big thanks to you and Dinky for making the trip. Made for a much smoother IBC!! O0 Interstate teamwork is such a blessing to this organization.
Illinois tips it's hat to all the "interlopers" that helped make our IBC a success!!
SIX kids my age?!?! :o O0 Wish I could be there.... Have a great time ya'll!!!

Alright!Just when I thought I couldn't get any more excited, you go and say something like that.
^:)^
It would be an honor to have you guys with us.
(And I fixed Fuzzy listed twice. Thanks.)
Hello Ohio Appleseed!!
Just a reminder to those Ohio Brethren attending that if you haven' t PMed me regarding food to please do so soon. You should have received a PM with the weekend' s menu, if you haven' t let me know. I would like to have a concrete list so I will know where fill-ins are still needed by Feb 1. Right now we are planning on food for 50 in order to have enough vittles for everyone---as you can see above 32 have committed. I know we will have approx 10 helpers, so we may have to up our count at some point. I will let everyone know if that is the case.
Can't wait to see and meet everyone--it is just a few weeks away!!! Get pumped it is gonna be great ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^
In His Grip,
Ratchett
bump to top.
If you don't see yourself on the Attendance List above, please let me know. Thanks!
What should be brought? I've got food on the shopping list for next week. Current Instructor Manual is downloaded, just need to print it. Rifles (AR and 10/22) are ready to go. Not sure how much ammo.
Clipboard?
Plenty of notebooks for taking notes.
Pens.
Camping gear and extra blankets, at least it should be warmer than this weekend's camping trip. 9.5 when we woke up on Sunday. Brrrrrrr
Tools in case something breaks
WY_Not
WY_Not, please PM Nurse Ratchett in regards to food. She'll let you know the drill. Other than that, you sound very squared away! Just so you know, there will be no shooting at the IBC, just three full days of learning together. If we finish early, there *may* be a chance for burning powder, but it's not likely.
Already squared away with Nurse Ratchett.
Anything else besides Instructor Manual recommended for downloading and printing to bring along? Been browsing through the instructor area and reading what I can. Sheesh and you guys say Appleseeds are like drinking from a firehose, that section is like drinking from Niagra Falls!
No shooting? :o
If you've already talked to Nurse Ratchett... Other than the Instructor Manual and a notebook/pen and all personal effects, you'll be good to go!
MS I was wondering other than the same things as the students and the stuff as coordinated with Nurse Ratchett am I going to need to bring more?
in regards to food? Always good to bring some emergency rations. We all keep those in the trunk, right? :)
But I believe Nurse Ratchett is working it out to where we get three squares on Sat and Sun and at least 2 on Monday.
If anyone wants to bring extra toilet paper, paper towels, etc, I know the club would appreciate it. We'll also be passing the hat for a few bucks for everyone to throw in if they want to benefit the club for the immense generosity.
I have a whole thing of Papertowels from Sams I am planning on just leaving the extras with the club.
Tossing some money in the hat is a given for me when I get down there. Besides their generosity hosting Appleseeds, I've sent two kids down their for their Camp Heritage so far and both had a great time, learned a lot, and got their Hunter Safety Certification with flying colors.
I
I'm going to try to track down an eraser for that chalk board. I told George T in October this would be the last AS where we were wiping it down with paper towels.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "little"... $$-0 If I could there would be three more kids and another two adults. :o And it would be really, really fun to meet my friends on the other side of the nation. 8)
It would be great to meet all of you guys too! :) Too bad you can't take that "little" trip. :'( :'( :'(

Whoohoo! If this weather keeps up, the drive from Cleveland is going to be fun. ;)
Leaving here at 2:00 pm on Friday. So, depending on road conditions might be arriving late.
Joseph
Either way with this weather it looks like those of us camping will be sleeping on the snow ^:)^ I love sleeping in the snow, its quieter and always so bright out at night. Looking at the forecast it looks like the zero degree bag will be in order as well. Yep we appleseeders are a crazy folk O0
Got my zero degree bag packed! O0
You guys are crazy! :D You know, the "Appleseed Hotel" is always open if you all can't handle the weather. ;) Can't wait 'til Saturday!
Ish
Ishy I am good to go, here is where is slept last night :) :P
This will be like a spring evening.......... That's relative to some other camping I've done.. **)
Just a quick note: The instructor manual (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=9374.msg80452#msg80452) is now at version 3.0 the one linked in your first message is out of date. ;)
Have a good one.
Cheers
V
I'll be sure to print the version 3.0 before I go. I'm holding out til Friday just in case 3.1 or 4.0 comes out!
And as Ishy said, you guys are crazy! I'll be in the "Appleseed Hotel" because it's cold outside. Or, if it's warm. Or if there's 'skeeters. Or, if... well, I'll pretty much be in the Appleseed Hotel as long as there's a spot for me. See you guys soon!
You mean you aren't going to sleep on a picnic table again?

Thanks V. I updated so the newest version is now available at the beginning of this thread for download.
We're only a couple days away! :~ :~ Looking forward to seeing everyone.
A few items to prepare:
1) Please be ready for Instruction to begin at 8AM each day. Breakfast and everything else should be taken care of before then.
2) Please bring cold weather clothes, boots, etc with you. Due to the size of the IBC, we will be having some activities outside so there is room for us all to practice the lessons. Also, if some of you could throw in a shooting mat, that would be helpful.
3) There is an updated version of the Instructor Manual that I didn't know about. I updated the attachment in the IBC thread in the Ohio section. Please make sure you study up on that in the next few days so you arrive being familiar with the material.
4) If you haven't PM'd Nurse Ratchett to get squared away with food plans her and the other incredible Athens volunteers are preparing... please do so now.
5) If you don't see your name on the attendance list or the list of where you're sleeping (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=11276.msg93054#msg93054) at the beginning of this thread, please PM me and let me know. Also, if you know of others that are attending that are not on the list, please tell them to PM me so I know and we can plan.
6) Don't forget a notebook and pens/pencils!
Thanks everyone! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll be arriving Fri evening some time.
Later,
--Mike
Mike please take my name off your list. Lots of things going on in my life right now that is just more in portant. I might be there some but please don't depend on me. And you might want to note the lodge down by the lake would be a great place to bed down theres a kitchen and a big FIREPLACE THAT YOU COULD STAY WARM LOWER TEENS THIS WEEK END. I am not instructor material right now and I've not even made rifleman.
I'm very sorry to hear that, rimfire. You'll be missed! I don't have your number, but feel free to give me a call if there's anything I can do for you at anytime.
One more day........
Who's excited?!?!?! :---
Ready to go Sir O0
MeanStreaker,
You are aware that only people who actually own a Mini Uzi are authorized to use the "little guy shooting the Mini Uzi" icon, Aren't you?
VAshooter
VA, you saying Appleseed keeps "a list"? :cool2:
That's it. I quit.
;D
MeanStreaker,
No, there isn't a list but if there was I would be on it.
VAshooter
Ready to learn a LOT and have a heap o' fun too!
HOORAH!!! :~
---GFG
Meanstreaker,
Ok. Just printed Rev 3.0 - 011910 of the manual. If you make any changes between now and start of class Saturday, you get to bring new copies for all. ;D Two shooting mats are in the back of the truck.
Nurse Ratchett,
10 loaves of bread, 2 flats of water, 2 cubes of pepsi, a big can of coffee, and a big package of TP are ready to go.
***********
See everyone at the clubhouse tomorrow evening.
WY_Not
Just a heads up!
We have 10 or so inches of packed snow all around the clubhouse and camping areas. Will move some of it tomorrow, but plan on dealing with the problem if you are camping or moving a vehicle. The limestone parking lot has disappeared and we cannot get down to the stone without moving too much of it also. Entrances are slick. Footing is slick.
Not to discourage, but we cannot accomodate everyone overnight in the clubhouse, so plan accordingly.
We can use the paper towels, especially the trifold for towel dispensers. We have a good stock of TP. The coffee, water and drinks are good to bring. Thank you.
Gates will be open tomorrow PM, around 4.
Have a safe trip, and no, I have not put out any direction signs.
By the way, the old cabin is not safe to stay in.
George T
As far as I'm concerned, this will be the lap of luxury......
Normally I try to pack light... This time the plan is to be comfy. Tent, pad, extra blankets, space heater, pillow.....etc... Packing heavy this time..

One more day........
Who's excited?!?!?! :---
Me! The car is all packed and I'm ready to head south after work tomorrow. Seems strange that I'm headed south to colder weather than we have here. My 'plan' is to get south of Columbus Friday night and make the rest of the journey EARLY Saturday morning. Meanstreaker I'm PMing you my cell phone number. If there is something I need to know between now and Saturday morning please call or send me a text message. THANKS!
Thanks very much for the update and of course, for the club's hospitality, George.
As the beginning of this thread shows, we're good to go as only 9 people are sleeping inside the clubhouse, so we're under the limit that you and the club set.
Folks, if you have an extra bag of kitty litter, it might be nice to bring along.
See you tomorrow night.
Luna and I are looking forward to a great weekend. See you all tonight. I have plates, knives, forks, spoons, extra napkins, extra tin foil, extra cups large and small. Throwing in a shooting mat and a couple tarps.
George,
How slick are we talking? Slick enough that a car might have trouble getting up the drive? Slick enough that a truck might have trouble? Or just slick enough that a person has to be careful walking.
WY_Not
I'm bringing a tent, etc., so I can go outside with the "real men" if necessary. Semper Gumbi. ;D
Hi everyone! The day is finally here ^:)^ ^:)^ Just an FYI the entrance and exit are a bit steep grade wise. I have not been out to the club since Jan 31, however I know with the way we have received snow and then a few hours of sun then temps dipping low at night there is alot of ice and packed snow on top. GeorgeT drives a pick-up truck and I believe he made it into the lot ok. I do not know about cars.
As far as salt or kitty litter, please keep it to kitty litter. The salt on a gravel drive will not work. If we salt the area it will not firm up in future bad weather and then we will be left with a mud lot instead of a parking lot. :o $$-0 Do not want fellow club members to be unhappy with us @)
Everyone travel safe and I will see you soon! **) ..:.. ^:)^
In His Grip,
Ratchett

Thanks, NR. I updated my post above. Let's make sure nobody does anything in regards to kitty litter or anything else unless cleared by George T first.
Thanks.
Best wishes to you all this weekend at Athens IBC. Will be there in spirit.
FiremanBill
Thanks everyone for making it a success. Post your thoughts in the AAR thread here: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=11924
