As I'm driving down from the Seattle area I am interested in the camping situation.

Is it first come first serve?

Do a lot of folks do this?  I figure it might get cold.  I'd probably spring for a motel if I was going to be solo, but might hang out with like minded folks around a campfire.

BTW: This will be my first appleseed.

Thanks
-Sean

I'm planning on camping at the range Friday and Saturday, lows should be in the 40s which is not too bad for this time of year and it looks like rain might be somewhat infrequent.  I understand a couple other people are going to be camping this weekend as well.  If you've got the gear to make camping comfortable, I don't see any reason to waste money on a hotel.

As far as I know camping is first come first served, but we'll squeeze together to accommodate anybody who shows up.

Very good to hear.  I was going to wake up early Sat. and head down.  It'd be too much hassle to attempt a drive down from Seattle Friday night after work.  Although I'm solo, I'll bring my "comfortable" family tent, and also a one-man bivy as a backup in case I need to huddle into a small space.

I've got extra tarps and camp chairs I'm happy to bring along if anyone wants to use them.

K its mowed again  and thank you to Ducko and Ltr for working on the Range O0 and checking for any malfuctions  ,,perhaps its a little knowen thing about doing work on the WA DAR but IIT's and Instuctors that work on the DAR are asked to check the Range for malfuctions its part of the job .

I think there will be another good group at the campfire this weekend ,,camping again is free.

and would you belive it looks like I will make it to this shoot  :).

We had a really nice fire and great conversation.  Thanks for letting us enjoy your little piece of heaven Wade.  We do appreciate all the gas and time it saves.

For any new folks - BRING WATER.  There is a sani can, and plenty of space.  Nothing better that hanging out around a camp fire with fellow seeders.  Counting the days until I get to go back in July.  2/3rd should be a great shoot; and hopefully frosty mornings will be a distant memory. ;)

I will add at lest Tents  to sleep in not just a canopy a good tent and good sleeping bags  ground cover is a good idea to can be something as simple as old carpet (heck one of the shooting mats here will do) some thing to keep you off the cold ground thats the why of the ground mat,,Water to drink  yea the water here is "safe to drink" but I don't drink it  it tast  $$-0  but if you are low on Iron in your body this water will fix you right up :o   .
So come and camp enjoy other Appleseeders around the campfire and save gas money and be there early and enjoy some coffey before the shoot heck you miaght even see the naborhood American eagle.

btw I have never yet seen the camping area  completely full Yet yes there is still room and yes showing up Friday afternoon/ Friday night  is fine and a good idea.

Standard AS rules no rifles to the range intell after safety rules.

Instructor shoot,,,Instructors at times do mantaince to the range and check the range for any malfunctions,,,there has been afew found from time to time :o,,so in short it really is the Instructors Job to check the range for malfunctions  this is normally done on Friday afternoon /evening before a shoot ,,,,Shooters please understand that the Instructor shoot  at this time is just that an Instructor shoot and there is no Insurance coverage on Friday before a shoot and the Instructors are performing a needed  task so all will go smoothly Saturday morning .

Yep still free still a good idea ,, I still have yet to see all the camping spots used at a shoot  plenty of room ,,,and heck I might even make it to this shoot (with driving truck for a living you never know),,,Heck I might even end up testing the range for malfuctions  :D.

O gosh I hope you can do that. Gotta make sure that the range works.  ;D

Believe it or not ,,,Malfuctions have been found at this Range  3 more shooters spots then where known about  Red ant hill :o at shooters slot #7 (nasty bitting red ants ) gofer holes here and there   slot #13 turned into a mud hole at more then one shoot (then again some would argue that the whole place turns into a mud hole in the winter time ),,,,yes malfuctions can be found on a Range  best to know what and where before the morning of a shoot ,,,and yes testing is better with more then one Instructor.

Heading down to Castle Rock for my first Appleseed event the weekend after next.
I'm planning on leaving Marysville around noon on Friday and arriving late afternoon (couple stops along the way).
Is there room to park my small (17') trailer at the range or should I figure on heading straight to the state park?
I'm looking forward to meeting the Washington contingent and learning some  history and how to shoot  O0
Thanks,
paulw

yes either on the street (on same side as the range) or if your ok with backing back it in  drive past range and get to the right hand turn turn right, back up to get turned around ,,,I turn around there with my 18 wheeler plenty of room to do it ,,,I do not however try to put it in my yard  its just abit to long  ,,17 foot trailer should not be a problem  however day light would be a good idea .
