Another muddy event at the scenic and beautiful Knob Creek Range. This place was custom built for shooting... and it shows! Free brass and even live rounds can be found just laying on the ground (it's like free money!) and the sounds of freedom can be heard all weekend long echoing through the hills of Kentucky.
Saturday found us with close to 30 shooters in the cool rain. What a way to start off an event! By mid-afternoon, the sun peeked through the clouds and it ended up being a pretty good day to shoot. We started off with a couple hands raised on the Redcoat targets but by the end of the day, almost every single hand was up. Much, much, much improvement shown by all and a whole bunch of persistence as they worked through the less than optimal shooting conditions.
Sunday was much nicer. A perfect day to Appleseed...... and a perfect day for Riflemen!
10-year-old Leah, of the Dangerous ol' Family (DOF), not only jumped through the 210 hurdle, she set the bar higher with the highest score for the weekend! Leah started off earlier this year barely able to hold up a rifle. Matter of fact, she was using a Cricket on sandbags at her first event. Oh what a difference six months of hard work has made. And what dedication she's shown! I was honored to be there to see her earn her Patch. - DOF is up to SIX Riflemen now. Huuuuzzzah! Not only are they working hard themselves, they've passed on the tradition and spread the seed.
Three members of the Lindsey family (who were introduced to Appleseed by the DOF) also hit the mark and earned Patches. This family has 10 kids. The DOF has six. So, if you're crunching numbers, that's 20 fine Americans who now are more aware of their Heritage and now spend weekends together practicing the American tradition of Marksmanship. When was the last time your kids wanted to spend the weekend doing something together with you? Bring them to an Appleseed... and soon they will! - And folks, this all started with one man spreading the 'seed to them. Wildcat up at Athens introduced RedNekEngr and the rest is History! 7th Step!
Several others on the line were close with scores inching up to 200. Several shooters doubled their scores for the weekend. Huzzah! What was really encouraging was seeing folks work through their issues or problems and come out on top. Friends and neighbors, grandmothers and granddaughters, husbands and wives. A community of Riflemen working as a team. Hope for the future!

Had this out in front of my truck all weekend at the Machine Gun Shoot Oct 9-10-11. Put fliers in the Range House and on the posts in the pic. Hope it helped your line. Glad all went well. No shortage of patriots in KY, just gotta get 'em out.

P.S. We were camped just inside the entrance to the camping area and on the opposite side of the road from the Head. Location, location, location. O0
It was great to be there when so many young patriots earned their Rifleman patches last weekend. Lots of family and new shooters at this event. Which is a great thing!
The hospitality of the Lindsey family and DOF was great to a couple lone guys in the mud for supper and breakfast. Also thanks for the push out sunday morning after my car sinking saturday night.
