Driving though NYC to Calverton was new for this upstate hayseed. They have signs to tell you to use your turn signals. Nobody does.
We had a good first day shoot. The predicted heavy rain and cold never happened(until day 2) It was a very nice overcast cool day. The predictions shorted us a few shooters.
One Rifleman with a 216. Rich also took an orange hat as this was his third AS and he wants to do more for the program. Great job and welcome aboard Rich!
We had a large showing from the Long Island Firearms Forum. Many of these shooters are right on the tipping point and we will get more on Sunday.
This is my first shoot where I also had Internet but left the camera connection cable at home, so pictures to follow Monday.
Rich on Saturday. His 3rd AS, a 216 and a commitment for the hat. Not only a great shooter but a born team player and a leader.

Brad got a 210 on Sunday. After a long day of cold, rain, wind, and sand a bit of cool water was welcome.

Samual got a 195! using a borrowed scoped 10/22 and shooting it all prone.

Chainsaw speaking of inches, minutes, and clicks. Tom is top notch.

YankeePatriot never stops smiling. Seriously, never. Al did a great job at Calverton.

Josey Wales working the line. Nick always has an interesting perspective. A thinker.

By late Sunday the weather had us down to 2 shooters. Pete had a 202. Almost there. You will get it in CT next month.

Thanks to all for making this weekend possible and to those that weren't going to let a little nor'easter get in the way of some quality range time.
Just wanted to say thanks so much for your effort this past weekend. You guys were great. O0
BJM and VV, there's always room for more in this program. Bet I can find an orange hat for each of you. O0 (PS: The "dirty little secret": I have an orange hat for each of you, each of your neighbors, each of your wives, family members and neighbors, and each of your co-workers and friends...it can't get better! Let's get working on shooting those Rifleman scores!)

They both now have one. I believe I made it clear to keep them clean enough to hand out while taking a Red hat.
....I was Honored to be amongst such good people... I would like to thank and congragulate all of the Appleseed volenteers, Appleseed shooters and new Appleseed Riflemen....Great job to all...

Another great weekend! We had a fine bunch of Long Islanders and a great range.
I work outside, and I have to say that Sunday was the most miserable day of weather that I've willingly spent outdoors. Even so, we had some folks that just would not give up. Most had their gear give out long before they were willing to call it quits.
Congrats to Rich and Brad! It seemed they were even more excited taking their Orange Hats than their Rifleman patches! With you guys LI is well on its way!
B9 runs a great shoot and Josey Wales and YankeePatriot are excellent. Thanks!
had a great time b9 and chainsaw were excelent teachers. josey wales and yankee patriot are great guys. thanks for another great weekend. weve had crazy heat in august, it was a little wet yesterday next time lets do it in the snow!
it was really a great experience (again). I am very impressed by all the AS staff that shows up; their commitment and volunteerism is second to none. it was my second "seed", and I can feel myself improving each time. the quality of the instruction is excellent. thank you, to all of you.
I was extremely proud of the guys and girls at this appleseed, not only did they shoot their hearts out, but they endured terrible weather to do it.
If anyone deserves the credit for this apples seed it would have to be our redhats, chainsaw and B9. They really inspired me to get my red hat.
God bless
Thanks to the AS Shoot Team for all thier help at this shoot. Here are a few photos of them going over the proper firing positions....
Good pictures.
Just so everyone knows the last standing shot was me showing what not to do.
