Great weekend at Davilla! Thanks to Scout for his hospitality and knowledge. To all the Instructors and IITs, another job well done and I learn something new every time.
I have lots of pics, but haven't gotten through all of them yet. Here are a couple of new Rifleman. I think we had one more on muddy Sunday while I was over on the KD range.
More Pics
..and more
Nice pictures spitstickler. Looks like it was a great shoot. Glad to see that Steve got his patch. Scouts place looks a lot different with all of the green in the background :)
This event here was my first, and I gotta say thanks to all the instructors and to scout for hosting. I had an incredible time and look forward to the Rifleman journey!
Hey great pics Spit! Man...I wanna come to another Appleseed...but I promised DH that he could attend in Nov. and our little kids wouldn't last the whole weekend, so I stay home this time, and he will attend. Good to see Larry & Labrat & the Moores too, along with Doug & Scout. Scout, you're looking good for as banged up as you were, not too long ago! I hope all is healing well.

I had a great time at my second Apple Seed, my first was this past April 19th, much thanks to all of the instructors for your help and dedication, Scout thanks for the use of your land, your passion in your instruction, and most of all your dedication to improving this country one Appleseed at a time!
I also need to give special thanks to Brett and Top for their help and persistence in getting me to that glorious "Rifleman" status Sunday afternoon while most Americans partake in "Rome's Bread and Circus". After a very rainy, muddy, soaking wet Sunday that was the perfect reward to end the day.
On my 3 hour travel back to Denton I did not care I was soaked down to my underwear, I did not care about all the traffic, I could only think about my accomplishment and the beginnings of my journey down the road of the life of a rifleman...
...I felt like a different man.
I think we need to make spitstickler the official Davilla photographer.
Good pics.
Has anyone ever noticed that Scout not only is photogenic but resembles Mel Gibson, I bet if you put him in colonial clothing of the revolutionary period he would make a good stand in for Mel Gibson in the movie "The Patriot"!! lol >:D
We had a really terrific shoot even considering it rained all day on Sunday.
I was reminded by this weekend's weather to never trust the weatherman. ::)
We had a good turn out of 23 shooters, 3-4 of whom had attended previous Appleseed events.
Three Riflemen were forged on the anvil of the AQT : Steve, Ross and David. OUTSTANDING GENTLEMEN!!!! O0
Sunday those shooters that shot well with their centerfire rifles took up the opportunity to shoot on the Known Distance range- 100, 200, 300 and 400 yds. :~ :~ :~
Shooting at the KD range during weekend events is something the Central TX Instructor cadre is working hard to realize for every weekend shoot in Davilla from now on.
Thank you very much Instructors for volunteering your time this past weekend : Reliable, mpmoore, Scout, labrat, and TOP.
TOP received his Red Hat at this event as well. CONGRATULATIONS, TOP!!!!!!!!! O0 O0 O0
Instructing there in Davilla again, now that the green grass is grown back and the weather is cooler, fond memories of the Rifleman Bootcamps held there in previous years began to course through my mind.
Memories of all the friends I have met there and seeing many of them as Instructors now, some of whom live and instruct in other states presently.
These memories make me smile.
I will see some of y'all again soon at the November Davilla RBC.
Brett
Back at you Brett. Matt and I were talking about that on the way to Fort Stewart last week. Davilla has certainly turned out some good training and instruction, and provided good examples of instructor conduct. Just know that Texas was well represented to the SC National Guard. If you look at the pictures, you'll see a Texas rocker over the RWVA oval on my left sleeve as I am presenting to a PFC. That kid scored a 209, the only one of the week. We presented him with the only Appleseed challenge coin we had, and now it's the only one in the 1st of the 178th. Think about how many troops are lusting after that shiny little thing right now. May it be not the last.
PS. That was a good day.
Mike
I see Larry was there again. I need to get back down there.
If ya'll are doing KD range then I need to go again as a shooter, never made it over there the 2 times I was there

Yep.
I was thinking about you, Matt, PJ, OldGrunt, Franktownkid and Wade.
You're a good man Mike.
Thank you and the other Instructors in SC that volunteered their time for the event.
If ever those troops find themeselves pulling a loop about their shoulder in Afganistan, he is gonna remember AS, and he will know his aim is true.
I hope our paths find us together again someday.
I wish the best for you and your family.
I will see you on the trail.

It was a great time in Davilla last weekend. This was my second Appleseed. After attending my first in August I knew that I would be coming back for more. I am already looking forward to my next shoot. Big thanks go out to Scout for his hospitality and instruction along with, Brett, Top, labrat, Larry, Doug and mpmoore.
Steve
