Romeo's Hero

This was the first shoot of the year for Fresno and what an excellent time, the weather was great, the shooters were awesome, and by the end of the shoot we had 3 new riflemen, and 1 new IIT.

On both Sat and Sun we warmed up the chilly morning by with a nice fire and by midday the sun was keeping us warm. What a great change from the cold wet winter shoots we were just getting used to.

We had a lot of returning Appleseeders, and with them some newbees. The group of shooters progressed very well through the day while they listened to the instruction and then applied it on the line. During lunch we all missed the BBQ since the range isn't cooking at the shoot anymore, but we made do with our sack lunches while we listened to the story of the American Revolution. After our lunch break the shooting continued and we ended the day with 1 AQT and the final Redcoats.

On that AQT 1 of our shooters showed that "he knew much what he is about" and scored a 217 for his long awaited Rifleman patch - congratulations Joseph "Krahnic".

On Sunday the grind was on and our shooters worked hard on every AQT. During lunch the shooters listened to the stories of Dangerous Old Men and afterward we discussed with the shooters the importance of the decision these men made, and how one man really can make a difference. After lunch the grind continued, broken up by a little "ball-and-dummy, and tank target. Our returning female shooter, Stacy, showed that she had the skills of a rifleman and scored a 217 also. At the end of the day we posted our final redcoats and after they were shot everyone wanted to do one more AQT and since time permitted we put one more up. Its a good thing we did because a shooter that had been hovering in the 190s finally put it all together on that final target and scored a 216.

Closing out the shoot Sunday, all the shooters had improved and we had all had a great weekend. "Krahnic" also decided that he was ready to answer the call for instructors took the Orange Hat - welcome to the instructor core.
