Title: Bunnell, FL Appleseed 26-27 OCT 2019
Post by: Cold Warrior on October 30, 2019, 01:29:55 PM
Ten great Americans got up off the couch to come out for a Two-day Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic at the Flagler Gun & Archery Club (FGAC) , in Bunnell, FL.

The first notable item of the day was that the good folks at FGAC let us use the newest part of the range, Bay 9, which is covered, with concrete floor, electricity and fans!!  After introductions and Safety, safety, safety, we started with a Saturday AM Redcoat, and CJ cleared his Redcoat first thing! That's setting the tone! As the day progressed, bands of heavy rain came through slowing us up, and right before lunch, a serious storm with significant straight-line winds blew through, shredding our target line. No matter, we switched to lunch and history whilst the storm blew itself out, safely ensconced in our covered line. We could tell by the great progress of the group we had some talented students. David cleared his Redcoat in the afternoon.

Sunday dawned clear and warm. As we moved into the AQT grind, some great shooting occurred, and the predicted storms stayed away. All the shooters maintained a fantastic attitude, especially considering the challenging weather on Saturday.  After seven AQTs total, young Greyson, still shooting off a bag, steadily progressed to shoot a 190 by the end of the day. I shared with Greyson, while awarding him his Luther Blanchard patch, he is ready to try all three positions and get off the bag, and I think we'll see great things from him in the future.  Several shooters were knocking at the door. Remember, A RIFLEMAN PERSISTS!

CJ put up back-to-back Rifleman scores of 211.
First-time Appleseeder David put up scores of 211, 222, 231, 236, and 238!
Return Appleseeder Douglas earned his first Rifleman patch with scores of 215, 219, 227, 229, 238, and… 241!
A Distinguished score!  Huzzah!
Great job to all.

Thank you very much to our host range, Flagler Gun & Archery Club.

And last but not least, many thanks to my fellow instructors (Grunt, Edree, Aninha, TomM1Thumb, HeavyDuty77, FLawyer, and B.C.) whose positive attitudes and professional demeanor made this a fun, safe, and successful shoot.   (TomM1Thumb's Red Hat was properly baptized in North Bridge Water!)
