Saturday dawned and we had beautiful weather, a SOLD OUT event of eager patriots and a full stable of Liberty loving instructors. Thank you to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department for being so gracious to us and allowing us to use their fine facilities. I couldn't have asked for more! After running through Greetings and Safety, we hit the ground running with a redcoat target. The fire-hose of instruction was on from then on out!  ~~:) Sling use, Prone position, 6 Steps, NPOA, a trigger reset exercise and talking targets all covered before breaking for lunch about noon.

During an extended lunch in the air conditioning, we covered Inches, Minutes & Clicks and 1st Strike.

It was back to the line for instruction in Seated. After the shooters tried each position and found the one that worked best for them, they practiced it in Riflemen's Cadence as we wore out the Green coat targets. Then it was back to the A/C for the 2nd Strike and a rest before the AQT.

We came back and learned transitions before beginning the AQT with stage 2 and working down. Yup, you read that right.  ^-^

We paused after stage 4 and between stage 1 to cover Hasty Hasty and the Standing position.

While the shooters were shooting stage 1 of the AQT and wrapping it up, yours truly was making ready a special surprise for the shooters and my own touch to the Memorial Volley...[those unfamiliar with the volley - I read the opening paragraph of the Bloody Butchery. Then, all(28) of the shooters brought 13 rounds to the mat and from the standing position and we fired in remembrance of the 40 Colonists who died that day. Then we had a brief moment of silence and the special Patriot patches were passed out]

[Big thanks to 6Bones for those pictures. Also, it should be noted that in addition to our founding fathers, the Revolutionary War outfit was also worn in remembrance of Akela. Akela was a great guy and among other things, a GA instructor. He passed away and left the outfit to the GA program.]

We closed out the day with the 3rd Strike of the match and a discussion on the "Philosophies of Liberty by the Founding Generation". We were blessed with 6 young patriots who all received the Luther Blanchard patch as well as copies of the Bloody Butchery to take home.

Sunday, was another glorious day. We did some brief history on 1776 before getting into into it once again beginning with the Safety Rules. After an impressive morning redcoat, we shot a 5 round sighter to fine tune any needed adjustments. Next was the first AQT of the morning, starting from the bottom up. Mark N. re-qualified with a 210! After the AQT, we did review from yesterday on the tripod(NPOA, 6 Steps, and Steady Hold Factors of all the positions) as well as Talking targets and IMC.

After a quick break, we had lunch and heard some amazing stories about Dangerous Old Men, Brave Women and Gallant Children. We shot a couple more AQTs. Jaime B. re-qualified...twice! and we had a new rifleman among us as Mark R. proved he knew what he was about!  :---

We retreated indoors from the heat and learned about shooting at known distance. We closed out with 1 more AQT before packing it in from the heat. We were again rewarded as GBear took up a bluehat and joined Applecore!

Apologies to the Riflemen and young Patriots that I didn't get your picture, but I'm hoping another instructor did and will post below.

To those who didn't make Rifleman, persist and you will get there! Remember, perfect practice makes perfect.

I hope to see all of you again soon. Bring a friend!  ;)

Tennessee Beast

#2
I enjoyed spending my weekend with 39 fine patriots.  Thanks to everyone that had a part in it. To modify a Samuel Adams quote, it was "a glorious weekend for America!" I thought I would share some pictures I took.  I apologize that the picture of the young patriots was a little shaky (and was missing Bug-7).  Also, I believe I missed taking Mark N's picture.  Congratulations to GBear for taking a blue hat!   ^:)^

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin, 1775

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."  George Washington 1790

"[T]o preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…"
