A smaller but very enthusiast group of shooters participated in the late summer center fire KD event at the Fernan R&GC in Coeur d'Alene.

All of the shooters were well prepared for the event and had their gear ready for some known distance shooting.  After some classroom instruction on Saturday morning, it was time to shoot the Morgan's shingle.   A steel target was hung at 250 yards, and the shooter were ready for the cold bore shot.   Mark and Cal were able to hit the shingle and earn their patch on their first attempt of the weekend.  On Sunday morning, the shooters got another opportunity to shoot the shingle, and Russel and Jeremy earn their Morgan's patch.

The remainder of the weekend was spent learning the effects of gravity and wind on the bullet and making the necessary adjustments.  Once the shooters had their come up determined, they got to shoot multiple KD AQTs to try and earn their KD patches.   Unfortunately, the wind was very calm over the weekend, so the shooters did not get to experience the effects of wind on their shots.

Congratulations to Jeremy, Mark and Russel for earning their KD patches.   Cal was close to qualifying, but stages 2 & 3 were challenging to shoot with his Bergara bolt action rifle.   There is definitely an advantage to shooting AS events with a semi-auto rifle, but it can be done with other actions as well.  It just takes some extra dry practice to get used to running the bolt.

Thanks to all who showed up and hopefully you will be able to attend the rimfire KD event in Kellogg next spring.
