Your friendly neighborhood AS liaison checking in.  At the last event we seemed a bit over prepared with regards to the kitchen, so we want to tune things in a bit.

Any campers?  Want breakfast? Coffee? Special needs?  Please speak up and we will do our best to accommodate!

I'll be camping on Friday night and Saturday. Will be on the late side when I roll in Friday though. Probably around 9 or 10 pm.

Last year a bunch of us instructors all brought fixings for chili for Saturday evening meal. Haven't heard any rumblings about that this year.

dirtdawg, check your e-mail ;)

I too am planing on camping Fri and Sat nights, however I am off on Fri so hopefully I can get up north fairly early. Ratchett already adressed the pre-regs, but so far it is looking good. Chili hu? Cincinnati style right  ;D WY_Not if you want to do Chili let me know and we can see to it that it happens.

I'll see what I can find in the freezer. We might have some burger left from the 1/4cow we put away earlier in the year. If people aren't adverse to antelope... I just put one in the freezer at the beginning of the month. I could probably make a pot of chili and bring it if the other instructors want to bring some fixings, sides, and desserts to go with it. ;)

Tell me about camping.  (I was at the July shoot, but camping in July doesnt work for me.)  Is it at the club or is there a Cowan Lake campground?  What's the cost?  I could drive, but camping is fun!

dirtdawg

#6
Yes, there is camping at the club over by the archery range.  There is shelter if it gets really rainy.  There is a limited power supply and firewood available.  Restrooms?  Well, that is a bit of a hike over to the clubhouse.  They generally suggest a $5 donation for power usage, but it is on the honor system  @)

Cowan Lake is close by and has pretty good accommodations.  Electric sites are $27.  Primitive sites are $22.  Up to six can share a site.

ETA- There are cottages available also.

Up to 21 pre-regs!!! Shaping up for a grand weekend ^:)^ ^:)^

K-I-P, you have been to half of the Appleseeds at CCFSA.  Come to think of it, you've only missed one so far.  That is to say, we don't exactly have a typical yet.  That said, it sounds like there will be a crew pitched over by the archery range  and you are welcome to toss your kit there.

On the other hand, if you want to bring a motor home- Cowan is probably the way to go.

WY_Not

Awww... Think of it as free food for the deer.  **)

And you might get free targets growing on the berm next year.

Okay, I just registered for my second Appleseed.  Although I have worked a little bit behind the scenes to promote the cause, I seem to have missed an opportunity or two to shoot.  I may have to leave the line from time to time, but I should get plenty of trigger time.

Motor home?  I thought we were talking about camping ;)

On a side note, I'm hoping to have influenced at least 3 people to show up this weekend, possibly more!  ..:..

Now that's camping!

WY_Not

NP. ;D

I've got a Swedish engineers pack (among other things) in the back of my truck and there are plenty of trees to stand behind... so, bathroom not needed.

As for power... not needed.

My sleeping arangements on my last campout. So lack of power and restrooms not an issue. Even the truck isn't really needed except as a convenient way to move/store stuff. :P

I will IMMEDIATELY and with GREAT HUMILITY  retract that statement when the day comes that we come with kids  O0

Till then, I'm with WY-not on camping style! (Except I also like to carry a small shovel and some TP)

WY_Not

LOL! small shovel and TP is included in the "among other things". The swedish engineers pack is for when the soil is too rocky or frozen. Then we can break out the etool, pick, and crowbar.

As for the kids... mine are doomed. I take them camping with me. They've had their own tents for years. They do their own setup and tear down. I'm just there to teach them new stuff and make sure no one gets hurt too seriously. So far they are doing a good job of not getting hurt. Me having a suture kit seems to be really good incentive for them. No one wants to be the first one I get to practice on.

Of course Slim is even more minimilist than me. Once at Athens he just thew his sleeping bag up on top of a picnic table and slept there. Think he might have even gotten some sleep in between fighting off mosquitos and the motion activated floodlights coming on every time someone walked by on the way to the bathrooms.

Anyway... Back on topic.

I should be down there about 9 or 10 on Friday. Are we camping at the same place we did last fall?

Once you've slept through F-16s taking off the rest is cake.

Although, those skeeters are not to be messed with! I have since remedied that problem with a couple of skeeter nets.

I actually own a tent and this weekend, I'll be using it. Lows in the low 30s so, yeah, I'll be inside my tent with my little buddy heater going full steam. Everyone better bring some warm clothes since the highs are only in the 50s.

WY_Not

Agreed. Although in my case it was B-52G's and H's. And Tweety Birds. Those things rank up there with fingernails on a chalk board.

Thanks for the weather update. Hadn't looked yet. Sounds like fun though.

I got a sneak peek at the lunch menu O0

I would encourage everyone to take advantage of the hot lunch opportunity.  We have a dedicated volunteer staff that is making the extra effort to ensure this is a great opportunity for everyone, so hopefully the effort will not have been in vain.

See you Saturday.

slim

I will second the lunch suggestion.

Huzzah for hot lunch!

DryFire

I am with Slim on that one HUZZAAAHHHH! Just so everyone knows I plan to arrive tommorow, Friday, between 5-6 and will be camping at the range. I have also received word that the range has a firepit that we may use so I am bringing a small load of firewood along. Nothing like and Appleseed evening with a campfire.  O0
